My web application uses a database and, periodically, the site becomes unusable. After you contact a tech, he/she knows nothing beyond the bare basics. A second level tech is brought in and then it's a waiting game. One problem I had, I got a "resolution" email almost two months later. The sales team knows little about the details of the various plans. At one time Verio was one of the best hosts (like up to 2009). However, I plan to move.

I rarely call anyone a lowlife, but that's how I feel these days about Verio. Like a landlord who hasn't put a nickel back into the building for years. Last August, they put their formerly very good phone support offshore, and now that's as brain dead as their email support has been for years. Supervisors are also offshore, and not accessible, and the screening reps don't even know Verio's system and services, let alone how they work. I doubt you'll ever reach a supervisor, let alone someone in an actual Verio office.
I can only think that anyone giving a good review here has been either very lucky, inattentive, running a few pages of brochureware, or is on a pricey plan.
They seem to have walked away from the low end, satisfied to accept the income from I suppose still thousands of accounts' at $25/mo. I suppose it will keep coasting in for some time.
Not from us. I forgave them the fiasco that came with their first try at spam filtering long ago. And the several days we were down after the hurricane (apparently their backkup generator got flooded). And the time we couldn't FTP for several days (I was able to coax a manager to manually install a couple of updated files; I wouldn't find him now.)
Over the past couple years, our organizations' emails have been banned by Hotmail due to spammy shared IP numbers. After a year of frustration and mystery, someone at Tech Support put forth extra effort to implement a workaround by putting our mail on a newer account, and it seemed to work for awhile, but suddenly it didn't last August. A senior support guy (reached via Sales) said it never worked, we were just lucky, and the only solution is to get ALL our stuff, not just the mail, off that server. (Who's right, I don't know).
We're currently confronted with a malware attack by a .ru domain. Our files are clean, so it seems to be the server, Verio has replicated and in the 12 hours since learning about it, they've been incommuncado.
Our ancient Bronze account has been stripped of almost all of its features (why is it on the list here? It's not available anymore!), and Verio refused to assist in moving our files to one of their newer replacement plans (except at full-rate consulting fees). So much for having hosted half a dozen sites there over the past dozen years and recommending Verio to many others.
I stopped recommending Verio long ago. It's only the chore of moving that's kept me hoping for improvement. Folks, unless maybe you're spending hundreds a month, all hope is gone.
It says here on this form that a representative of the web hosting company will be able to respond. I welcome that. I doubt we'll see it, or that Verio management even cares.

Once Great, Now Worst - Leaving

I started a business in mid-2008 and was so impressed with Verio's support. I even had a specific person assigned to me for a $20 per month site. I built another site for a supplemental business, set up 4 domains thru them. Now what should have been the simplest thing - add a domain but for email to that domain only - sales & tech support kept sending me back & forth until someone finally told me to get the domain thru the backroom, but then it didn't support email. After FIVE HOURS and three requests to speak to a supervisor, I gave up and moved one site plus three domains to InMotion Hosting, moving the others soon. HORRIBLE TECH & SALES SUPPORT - THE WORST IN MY 20 YEARS WORKING WITH PERSONAL BUSINESS SITES!

Go somewhere else. Their control panel is very limited. Then when I needed a DNS change, they couldn't figure out how to change settings without messing up my email. Then, when I tried to cancel service and transfer domain... they dragged their feet... Then it took three calls to get my verification code to transfer

I've been with Verio for more than 10 years, and they used to have excellent support. Now it is by far the worst I've ever experienced. They have outsourced everything to the Philippines -- when you call, you're dealing with someone who sounds like they're sitting in their living room by themselves. They have no support team around them, and they have no technical expertise. If they can't help you, they have no one else to assist them - no higher level to transfer you to. They treat you like you are a complete annoyance for calling, and they just repeat themselves over and over again. My Web site has been down for a week, and the guy keeps repeating "Ma'am, you must have a problem with your Internet connection." I told him over and over again that no one (none of my customers) can get into my Web site, and that I can get to any other site on the Internet, except for mine. He continued to repeat himself, like a robot: "Ma'am you must have a problem with your Internet connection." A few times he giggled -- sounded like he was getting a huge kick out of being an ass to me. Verio has made a huge mistake in turning over their valued customers to these people who know NOTHING about what they're doing.

We have recently experienced very unreliable service (site going down, email being lost) from Verio. This was topped off by HORRIBLE customer support and then an email saying that they were raising their prices.
I am now researching other vendors as I will change hosting services asap.
THis is very unfortunate, Verio used to have really good support.

major problems with service and technical support

I have been a customer for over 11 years.
Service and technical support USED to be outstanding. The technical support and account managers provided significant value.
Now their foreign based technical support lacks ANY knowledge and English speaking communication ability.
My web site was down for 8 days starting on thanksgiving day.(Black Friday is one of my peak sales times)
If you call in you are placed on hold for 45 minutes and when you do get a person they have no technical knowledge of the problem or when it is going to be fixed.
Three weeks later after 2 report team escalations (I requested specific reasons as to why the servers were down and what would prevent this in the future), I received an email that said the problem had been resolved and they were sorry for any inconvenience.
This to me is not good customer service.

Pathetic service from a once good company

We had many hours of outage on both our website and mailserver over the month of November 2011 and each time we logged it we were told it was a server problem. Verio's so called uptime guarantee provides for a fairly nominal credit if they do not meet their uptime guarantees. When a claim was made they replied saying "The physical machine did not experience any interruption. Unfortunately, the downtime that was experienced would not be covered under the SLA". Strange.... as every time we logged a problem we were told it was a problem with the server. Down again today with a total downtime so far for December 2011 of over ten hours. Want to speak to a supervisor? They suggest calling back after 9am EST!..... So are there no supervisors on duty? We have been with Verio since 1997 (or Tabnet as it was back then) and it is certainly time now to give up and move. Sadly the service has dropped to be at the very, very, very poor end of the scale. If you are looking for a hosting service don't start with Verio.

Very bad experience with Verio

Email stopped working. People trying to email me said it was bouncing...so, I called Verio and logged and problem. No response. I then went online and posted the problem. I got an automated email response. Then I went to the online chat and got no help. I went back to the phones (this is all going on over a two week period) and called again this time demanding a supervisor. He told me there's nothing he could do, it was int he hands of the system administrators which he can't' talk to or send email messages to. I ask him what I was supposed to do when my business depended on people sending me emails - lots of damage already with over two weeks of bouncing emails - and his answer was to open a new account with Verio. Amazing. I have no idea how to get to a human being there who can solve the problem. I'm going to fire them...but I can tell you, they won't care. Really bad company with the worse service I've ever experienced.

No Server , No service, No customer report, No one...

Our host located in Verio is not response all day. We PING all times and receive nothing.
All time we send a support ticket, no one answer.
I waiting all day to recover our data, and work with our company email.
All people here are stressed and a lot of money we lost.
Is someone have some information about this server, and what is happening i´ll be very glad.
