The owner, Steve, is who you get transfered to if you ask to speak to a supervisor. He says that he listens to all calls and reads all e-mails, but will then tell you that for $7 a year, you can't expect to get any kind of support. The owner actually said that to me today! I'm hositng over 20 sites through them through various member IDs (to seperate who pays for what within our companies). That's $140 a year JUST for redirection and an additional $9 a year per site for hosting. So for over $320 a year, I expect some help when I call in. They sent me to another site, which led me to another site, then another, then I ended up BACK at ter-byte. His employee, Matt, is also as rude as Steve is, but Steve doesn't really care. Again, because for only $7 a year, I'm WASTING HIS TIME BY CALLING IN FOR SUPPORT. There's an easy solution to this, move my $320+/year elsewhere.

I'm a tera-byte.com customer since the nineties and I have several websites with them.
They are perfectly solid, reliable and efficient. Yes, his home page seems (is) somewhat stuck in the last century, as their offer too, but believe me, it works.
They have no 'unlimited' plans, but had you read the fine-print of this unlimited stuff? I even proposed to some of the "top10" of this moment via online-chat to host a website using the current resources I am using with a shared 4U terabyte plan, and all them referred me to some sort of $1xx/month virtual server accounts, as my actual requirements surpassed his 'unlimited' shared server world.
So, do you want simply host without the unlimited (fine-printed) stuff? Go on with ye olde tera-byte!
About the customer support: Simply perfect. For me, plain and effective email and quick responses is enough.

I have been with Tera-byte for almost a decade, with few problems on shared hosting an the last few years on a Virtual Server account. But as the software and hardware they use (which never seems to be upgraded) started to give me more issues, I really started to see how poor their service really is. They seem to have no interest in the fact that I have been with them so long and make no concessions to try and keep my business.
I'll be moving to a Media Temple Dedicated Virtual account. I know their Grid Service has been a nightmare, but their DV is decent. Pricey by most standards, but still cheaper than Tera-byte and double the storage, 10 times the bandwidth, more ram... and it sees feature updates.

I was with this company for around 10 years. All in all the client/customer was a roll of of the dice ranging from fair to horrible. Most of the time I attributed it to 'techiness' and lived with it for FAR too long. The last straw for me was a MANAGER by the name of Derrick actually hanging up on me when I was explaining to them that their policy of no phone support (and I mean...trying to pay them) for their redirection service was a poor policy...especially for those hosting there as well. Needless to say I'm done with them. All in all, their attitude is that they just don't care.

I have nothing but bad things to say about this "host". We were presented with an outdated version of Apache, MySQL and PHP. The server was slow, the support poor and when we decided to get the hell out of there since they weren't worth the money anymore we were presented with a database dump that was at least a couple of days old.
These people should simply not be in this business!

Tera-Byte is perhaps the worst webhost I've ever used. They overcharge for what you get when compared to other hosts. Their hosting plans haven't changed in 3 years and are quite inadequate by current standards. I went with them initially because they were relatively close by, and had a very fast connection (I pulled 500k/s from them).
Tera-Byte doesn't appear to maintain their servers since the one I was using had out of date versions of most of the software on there. Some were 2004 versions! The Ensim server account management console that users get is very limited and not that user friendly. A number of features even stopped working and those issues were never resolved.
I won't be recommending Tera-Byte to anyone. My new host is absolutely fantastic and I'm never going back.

NEVER go with these guys. Their servers are terrible - always down, and they always try to blame you for the problems, saying you're taking up too much space or bandwidth, etc.
I have NEVER EVER received so much as a "we're sorry" from these guys.

think the best deal around is tera-byte's plan 4 with $9.95/99MB/20GB/CGI
however they suffer several downtimes this month ... so far my 6 months experience with them is good in term of price/support/offer/speed

Avoid TB at all costs.
Shoddy service, out of date servers, they say things happen but give no proof, they will cost you a LOT of $ and headaches. RackShack.net kills them in all catagories.
