The WORST help desk

I had a PHP email script that worked fine for over a year, then one day it just stopped working--everything appeared fine, but no email was generated. I contacted the help desk and after 3 different reps asked me about the same question, their answer was basically, "yes you have a problem, and we don't fix problems."

Here is the actual last response. Can you help me understand what she is trying to communicate?

"Hello,

"I have checked the URL: http://www.sons-of-liberty-sar.org/contact.php and I am able to duplicate it. Hence I have uploaded a test script at: http://commonsense.startlogic.com/testing1.php. Hence it looks like the issue with the scripts uploaded by you. Hence we suggest you to contact your webmaster regarding the issue since we do not provide assistance regarding the script issue on our hosting platform.

"If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

StartLogic Bait and Switch

After several years StartLogic raised my rate 60% even though they were still advertizing the original rate. When I complained, they said the rate I had was "introductory" for one year only, although there is nothing in their ads about introductory rates. Then they offered me a raise of "only" 40% since I was a "valued customer." Finally they refused to commit to not charging the credit card they had on file. I called the CC company to put a block on any charges from them for 4 years. They've seen the last of me.

Deeply Flawed

Everything costs more money than lead on too believe. The marketing angle is they offer "unlimited" bandwidth and space BUT you only get 25 databases and the real ringer for me is they limit a SQL db user to only 75k q/hour. Any more is 20 a month...

Tech support people are pretty much stupid. I imagine one over-worked smart guy and a ton of monkeys behind computers... Yea they're nice, pretty sure that niceness is automated though.

Lastly, their SQL offering is highly flawed and full of errors. Thats a pretty big thing to always be crashing.

StartLogic Has Horrible Support

They get hacked. Your site will get hacked. Their support is extremely slow and often useless. You will be put on hold for no less than 45 minutes before speaking to anyone. My password seems to get changed on a bimonthly basis.

Don't do it, not worth any price.

Class Action Suit

On these reviews we read, a Class Action Suit ought to be initiated and publisized then StartLogic need to revamp their services into highest level of quality service. State Attorney General's Office and the Department of Consumer Affairs need to open a probe to thoroughly inspect their level of quality Customer Service. Engineering disaster happens but should not be tolerated to those who are responsible ediots. We're now searching or considering into transferring our domain to a much better Host. They are very very slow on Level 3 TechSupport or not doing anything at all. If suits are filed CNN and Better Business Bureau should be given copies of Court documents.

I have had nothing but headaches with them. I had to completely re-create my entire site when they changed platforms. Since then, I have been locked out of changes, once for 17 DAYS! Another time for 7 days. Biggest mistake I ever made was switching to them.

What a mess

These guys are a joke. Our site just dropped off, my control panel was changed so I could no longer log-in and they hung up on me during a support call. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. As a web designer that has worked with many hosting companies I am telling you this is the worst one by far. Rude offshore tech support and even worse level 2 support in the states.

Use to be Good, now Sucks!

When I first moved to StartLogic, they were great! I'm a pretty technical person, so I didn't need to use their support features. Over time though, they've gotten worse. From periods of outages where their support says "it works fine from here", then a few hours later, its magic and fixed.

Most recently, it got even worse. They moved their hosting to a new version of vDesk. Now, my site is slow, sometimes doesn't work at all, the management tools are REALLY slow (sometimes 30 seconds to display a folder's contents). There are features that I can't always see.

Then this week, was it for me. All my MySQL databases but one just disappeared one day. I contacted their support, and sat on hold for 2 hours before giving up. Then I opened an online ticket about the SQL databases being gone and my site being slow. 24 hours later, they send me a response, that my site is not slow to them. They mention nothing about the SQL databases!

Stay away from this host! It will cause you nothing but pain! I wish they were the host they were 2 years ago, and I would never have to write this.

Transition disaster

Their systems are supposedly "in transition to a new platform" for well over six months. As a result, email is down 1 or 2 days out of 7, sites are inaccessible, and be ready to spend 45 mins on the phone to wait for customer service.

This to add to the notoriously bogus web-based email system which looses messages, mixes up boxes, and the like.

Then of course there are more insidious problems, such as entering passwords over non-secure http pages, and a tech support that closes tickets without addressing the questions.

Avoid this webhost at all cost! There technical support staff are clueless. If you have a problem get ready to wait hours on the telephone and they do not reply to support tickets. Customer support is rude
and just plain not that honest to be quite
frank. Yes, they will hook you in possible with one of there discount pricing plans but once they get you the quality of everything is non-existent to nil. Final note, do NOT
believe there refund policies or there promises. I really don't know how this company and their employees sleep that well at night. Bad! Bad to terrible and dishonest!
