Prior to October2006, when Nathan Wilkerson ran the company, I was always able to reach somebody at NPSIS by phone and any problem was quickly solved. After he sold it to ABriYah LLC (5448 Apex Peakway #344, Apex, NC 27502, 919-303-7334) they hardly ever answered the phone. And when they did, the support staff seemed to have little or no technical expertise.
I stuck with them for another year and a half, hoping they'd get better. (Hope springs eternal!) Then last January they migrated from the old FreeBSD systems to Linux servers. Linux and FreeBSD are similar enough that it should have had virtually no effect on my code. But the new management made such an absolute mess of everything that I was finally driven to find another webhosting provider.
The final straw with them was that, when the new Linux servers replaced the old servers near the end of January, they restored my data from a dump they'd obviously taken sometime in mid-December! They lost a month and a half worth of my changes! If they were going to do something that boneheaded, they should have just told each customer to restore their website from their own backups rather than restoring and outdated website and hoping the customer won't notice.

I've been using NPS since 1999. When I first joined and had problems setting up my site, I actually spoke with the president of the company who walked me through it. I was very happy with them for the first five years. After that, they started to turn for the wost. They would charge my credit card twice, other times the charge wouldn't go through and they would blame me for it, when it always turned out to be a problem on their end.
Last month, they charged my credit card but claimed I never paid. I attempted to call them, but only got voice mail. I sent in tickets to their tech support and received only automated responses. They have online chat, which is always down. They refused access to my email accounts causing lost revenue for my home-based business.
Today, I *finally* got through to a human being via phone, who after putting me on hold for an interminable amount of mind mumbled that it was a problem on their end. He gave me half-hearted apology, very insincere. I even mentioned that I lost money and he said, "I apologized, what more do you want me to do?" Unbelievable. I told him that I would no longer require their services as of June because I found a new hosting service (true) he said. "Go ahead. Just make sure you let us know before you do it." Obviously, they don't care about losing a loyal customer.
With the shoddy treatment I received, I cannot recommend them. There are other hosting services out there who do care about their customers. Do your research, if you find one you like, use them. But, remember, when this company was a "Mom and Pop" business, they were great. Now that they've grown, they are horrendous.

NPS has really gone downhill. Recent major problems with their email systems. Lost many emails because of this. Server went down last summer for awhile. Very disappointed.
