I have had service with iPower for several years now and have endured an increasing number of "server failures", "fires at one of our buildings", "moving our servers", etc. In the past 6 months, I have gone from a monthly email-server outage to almost weekly failures. I get the same excuses time and again: "You're on an old server", "We're having problems with THAT mail server", and so on.
My plan expires in less than two months and I'm already shopping for a more reliable host ... either 1and1 or Powweb have proven to be very dependable for me, so it's time for me to migrate elsewhere.

very reliable and good value. They have hosted a Front Page website for me for two years. But I have been trying unsuccessfully for three months to install an ASP.NET 2.0 Clubsite Starter Package and can't get useful information or help. Re-invent says they will install the package for free so I'm switching to them

I've used Ipowerweb since 2002, and they have been a great value until last year. Reasonable plans, the site would load quickly, easy setup, and great service.
In the past year, however, the service has become terrible. They have servers running at close to 100% capacity now, and all of the sites on that server are sharing limited SQL resources. What that means is that your site will hang, load very slowly, or give users errors almost daily. Additionally, I have had weeks of downtime waiting for them to fix a server problem.
The technical support has gone from very helpful to downright rude. During the last phone call I made to them (and the last one I'll ever make to them,) I was told point blank that the service I had was only meant to be for grandmothers who wanted a website that hosted pictures of their flower garden for a few friends to view. I sure didn't see THAT particular fact on their site. I can do that at photobucket for free.
Each time I call for help now, they try to sell me an expensive virtual server account that costs roughly 8 times what I'm paying now. They say that's the only way I can expect my site to function.
I'm not running a huge site. I have maybe 30 users on a message board, and I'm not even using 2% of my monthly bandwidth limit. The message board is the entire site. And Ipowerweb can't even provide the power to keep one message board running for 30 people.
I'd think it over before I gave them any business. I'm not the type who goes around trashing companies on the internet for no reason. But I'm sitting here waiting for my site to come back up so I can explain to my users why it was down all day again, and I figured I'd try to prevent this from happening to someone else.
I can honestly say the only reason I'm still with Ipowerweb is that I don't have the time to move my site to another host. I will definitely be doing it as soon as possible, however.
Avoid these guys unless you want a website that makes your customers angry.

My client's website has been hosted at ipowerweb.com for over 3 years. The prices are good and the system is generally online on a regular basis. However, features are somewha limited compared to other hosting companies. The real problem with Ipowerweb is when there is a problem, you can't get reliable technical support. Typically, the only support available is via email and that is slow responding. When they do respond, you may have to wait anotehr day until someone answers. Then the answers are often not addressing your questions/problems. Also, account passwords can revert to previous passwords with no notice. You go to login to your account and your password has been changed.
I am still waiting for a reply to a technical question/problem form 3 weeks ago. Never did get any help. Just get repeated questions about the credit card number on the account.
Also, apparently some of the tech support people do not speak English well enough to answer your questions coherently.
If my client did not have so many files online requiring many hours of work to transfer, I would advise them to change hosting companies.
As it is now, I would not recommend Ipowerweb.com to anyone for hosting services due to the poor customer service. Please be aware that many websites recommend Ipowerweb because they have a very generous affiliate commission, not because they are a quality, reliable hosting company. When it comes to Ipowerweb.com, run, run, run, very fast AWAY from them.

E-mail goes down frequently.. and when it does, sometime's we lose messages. Tech support is nice to me, but nobody really cares. She told me if i was worried about losing e-mails, i should get a second mail server... So basically, you want me to pay for your mistakes?
My e-mail has been down all day today and who knows what I lost. Business relies so heavily on e-mail for communication. Don't expect to succeed on ipower's terrible hosting.
Bottom line: Ipower is just simply not dependable.

When I first started working for the company utilizing the services of IPowerWeb they had been hosted on IPowerWeb’s Linux servers. Very few issues occurred.
After we developed a few web applications we moved the website to IPowerWeb’s Windows IIS servers. The transition itself was practically impossible with inexperienced tech support.
Now every few months our directory settings for IIS are reset and the .Net version is reverted back to 1.1.4 from 2.0. On my own Intranet this simply takes about 1 minute to change the .Net version to 2.0 in IIS. This takes IPowerWeb over a week to accomplish. Initially, their tech support acts like the situation will be taken care of and you hang-up feeling satisfied. Another 2days pass without a change and when you call they will tell you their windows administrators will not be in until later and the issue will be resolved then. Calling back after another day or two prompts them to tell you the issue has been promoted to level 3 (highest level…lol) and they can no longer do anything, which means I need to just wait.
This is the second time this issue has occurred within a 3 month time period. A week without a customer used web app is appalling to say the least. Avoid this host if you want a windows based web platform.

I have three of my own sites and several clients' sites on iPowerWeb. Most of this stuff is pretty straightforward, with PHP scripts providing certain header/footer functionality, etc. Some of the more complex stuff involves MySQL/PHP interaction. One site uses the native phpBB for a discussion forum. Nothing too radical.
The vast quantities of spam I get through their servers is incredible, even after I use nearly every spam killer in the world. When I tried to get an answer on whether other customers had reported a sudden surge in spam I got the runaround. They never told me one way or the other.
The phpBB forum on one site was getting blasted by 'bot entries, so I slicked it using phpMyAdmin and turned on administrator approval for all new memberships. No go. Two days after fixing up the user list it was filled with crap again. Huh?!? Server side malf, no other way.
The email seems to go up and down in the middle of the day for no apparent reason. A couple of my low-volume sites do the same thing. I wonder if they are playing with server load leveling or some such stupidity while I am trying to do my work?
iPowerWeb's service has fallen into the crapper over the last year or so. When they were small they could handle the issues pretty quickly and with reasonable technical awareness. Nowadays they have a bunch of newbies trying to provide tech support for issues that simply never came up a couple or three years ago.

I have had several websites hosted by iPowerweb for well over 3 years. I have noticed that in the past few months, there service has become HORRIBLE!
For example, I paid to have an additional domain name hosted on my account several years ago and it was working very well for a long period of time. Recently, the site was down for over a week and showed the default vDeck page. I contacted tech support and they fixed it. Great! A week later it went down again. I contacted technical support again and they ARGUED with me that there was nothing wrong with my site and that this issue was already resolved. They also stated that I should have used the original ticket I opened a week prior. WTF?!?! I literally had to argue via email with them for an entire evening and NOTHING was accomplished. Finally, the site was fixed the next day by someone else.
Of course, now ALL of my sites have been down for well over 4 days with an error on the server that's hosting our sites. I contacted iPowerweb and did not receive a response in the 24 hour period the email states I should expect to receive one. I emailed them again and they finally responded with:
"Thank you for contacting IPOWER Technical Support.
The issue that you are reporting is a known issue on your server. Our System Admins are working on this issue trying to get it resolved ASAP. Please allow us a little time to resolve the issue."
A "little" time?!?!?!? That is BS! It has been well over 4 days. How much time do they need?
I am currently looking for a new (and much more reliable) webhost. Their customer service, technical support, and hosting service have become absolutely terrible!

Ipowerweb I cannot recommend. I have a Business Pro Webhosting with vDeck and problems with Addon-domains which do not work. One week ago I have informed of my problems by mail and till present have received no answer or help.
I have informed of my problem in the chat. Likewise no answer.
I think of the support from ipowerweb has not earned this name.
I have paid for a year and will cancel afterwards
