When I signed up with them over 6 years ago, they were far from the abysmal mess they are now. In about 2006 their customer service fell off a cliff. (Another reviewer blamed it on the merger with Endurance International, but it was bad before that. Maybe the merger was them trying to dig themselves out of the pile of **** they were in?)
They couldn't do anything right, even like just registering a domain. Should have happened automatically but took over a week and 3 phone calls. That was my first bad experience with them in Sept 2006, but because of my previous experience with them I was willing to cut them some slack. It never got better.
In 2007 they introduced their "new platform" which was another total disaster. Essentially it was a server consolidation. However that meant that many account id's, which previously needed to be unique only on the particular shared host, now had to be unique company wide. So lots had to be changed, including a couple of mine. They just disappeared. One they were able to find and restore my site (took over a week), the other was never seen again. (One time I was on hold over 4 hours.) That is when I started moving stuff to a different host. (I have been very satisfied with Net Firms. They have their quirks, and their administration is a bit slow, but overall it works well.)
I now have all of my domains (about 30) elsewhere except 1, and it will be moving soon. Fortunately my credit card was stolen a while ago (that was a dream to clear up compared to dealing with iPowerWeb) so they don't have a valid card number for me and *CAN'T* bill me anything more. They want to, keep sending me emails that accounts are expired and payments were declined, but I have the upper hand here.
The reason it has taken me so long to switch is that accounts that were operating OK mostly stay operating OK. It is just when you need something changed (other than page updates) that things will get screwed up.
No matter what your needs are, do not go with iPowerWeb (or iPower, same company).

Hosted with Ipower for over 5 years. However, for some reason, they switched domain hosts and I lost control of my domain. For six months I tried to have my domain transferred back to Ipower so that I could control it through my control panel. For six months I got nothing but apologies and excuses. I gave up and signed up with another provider...only took them 3 days to transfer my domain.

I've been a customer for over ten years with Ipower and have 3 domains with them. They had great service a few years ago but have declined GREATLY in the last 18 months. Today I got an email saying I had 3 days to clean off FTP content. As I was online with the "do-nothing" tech support, I noticed it had already been deleted. The worst thing was they had no way to recover it.
I'm leaving Ipower ASAP!

I created a site for a customer who is using iPowerWeb for his host. Their interface, reliability, and customer are all horrible.
The site was giving the "Server Unavailable" error which usually means they need to do an IIS reset or application pool restart. I used the online chat to try to get them to take care of it. They wouldn't do anything about the site being broken because my customer hadn't gone into his account and created a verification question and answer.
I got the verification taken care of. Tonight I asked where the link to the database administration page was on the control panel. The rep gave me the link, which was nice, but I wanted to know how to navigate to it because I often work from several different places. I asked again where it was on the page. She said use the link she just gave me. I never did find out where that link was.
I tried to ftp with no luck. The site just keeps re-asking for my credentials. I set up a new login on their site, then clicked verify, but it couldn't verify my new login and kept asking me to re-enter the information. I removed the login and tried again with the same results.
Lastly, the site has just randomly gone down several times over the years.
I just can't take it any more!

Ipower is the worst company that I have ever dealt with in my life. They host our email and website and we have over 50 issues with them just in the past year with our emails going down, not receving or sending emails and our website going down completly. We are a business and count on our email and website for income 24/7 and dealing with Ipower has been a nightmare! They have the worst web hosting and when you try to call or email them about it, they only have foreign customer service agents that cannot speak english or understand what you are saying or what you are talking about. I have also been on hold with them for over 50 minutes numerous times in the past few months. This last time we just called today to fix an issue that has been going on with our email for over a week with no repair from them, I had a tedious conversation with a foreign customer service woman named Johanne. She did not understand or care what I was talking about, nor did she fix the issue. When I asked to speak to a manager multiple times, she refused and said they are in a meeting and a manager would have to call me back. After an hour of this I resorted to allowing them to call me back but I still have not received a call. This is not the first time I have asked to speak with management and they have never put me through, always saying they are "not available" and then they never call back like they are suppose to. I reccomend to everyone never deal with Ipower and I would recommend to Ipower that they take care of their customers and not just try to cut expenses with illeterate, inadequate and foriegn customer service that is not properly trained. Ipower is the worst Company I have ever dealt with and it has lost our business tens of thousands of dollars to this date.

I started hosting with these guys way back in 2003. They were good (at the time) and gave good value for your money. I liked their service so much that I became a reseller there. But over the last few years, they have grown progressively bad. Their "new platform" is a far cry from the cpanel offered by other web hosting companies. And their customer service takes their own sweet time to respond to you. Their instant chat is helpful, but they usually have no solutions.
So I decided to move to a new server/host, and was AMAZED to find that iPower actually has no easy way to move your account - emails, ftp, http files, databases etc. You have to do them manually, or have them do it for you for $75!! Are you kidding me?
Summary: They may have good technology, but really bad business practices. Ultimately, their bad choices will affect their bottomline.

As others have noted, Ipower used to be good several years ago, before they merged with Endurance International. Now it is a disaster. Simply a train wreck.

I have been with IPOWER for a few years now, and have had nothing but problems with them!! I have frequent issues with my e-commerce site during the busiest times of year, and have lost lots of sales. If you want to be a good online company, you cannot do it with IPOWER!
In the recent migration to the new platform, my Email went down for 4 days, and my store is still down. I finally got a response from them that they cannot migrate the database parts of my store for security reasons. So, now to start and build the store over again!
Never go with IPOWER!

The only thing that would make ipowerweb worse would be if all their service/support was overseas. I once spent 8 hours on hold waiting for tech support. Yes, EIGHT HOURS. I called, waited for 2 hours, got on with tech support, was put on hold "for a few minutes while I review your account", and they never came back. I took my daughter to a dr. appointment and came home and I was still on hold.
Tech support is terrible. Live chat is overseas. Tech support hold times are insane. Even when you do get through the open a ticket and promise to call you back, but they never do. Online ticketing is better, but still very slow and problems are denied. I've had minimal outages, but tons of database slow-downs. I deal with photography so images need to load quickly. Flash cannot be slow to load. Since my recent server migration, everything is slow. I'm shopping for a new host right now.
Do not be seduced by the US location of this host. Look elsewhere.

About 5 years ago in 2003, they were pretty good. You paid your money, and they offered a breadth of services. Everything at least worked. Sure they host one or two sites that the Islamic Jihad owns but hey no one is perfect.
Well when they went to the new system, something went horribly wrong. While I never had to call them in the past, they really need tech support now. I set up a customer on IPower and all seemed fine, untill their e-mails went into routing loops. I pleaded with tech support to let me speak to their DNS admins, becuase their mail system was internally looping. Unfortunately all they could tell me was that they were working on it. E-Mails sent in march have finally arrived MID APRIL. I guess they fixed it.
In all steer clear of Ipowerweb. They are not what they once used to be.
