It's simply the best Host!

I really don't see what the fuss is. I've been with Host Department for several years now. My experience is very good with them. The support has been very nice and friendly, they've also always solved my hosting problem - whenever I contacted them, I've most always talked to someone who has helped. For now I'm staying with them. In fact, since my last post I give them a higher rating now. I still say it's simply very hard to beat Host Department.

The Host That you need.

After being fed up with a Hosting Company, thought I'd give Host Department a shot. Since my friends were VERY satisfied with them, couldn't hurt to try right? Well after 2-3 SOLID months of having Host Department as my host, I can easily say I'm extremely satisfied with what they were able to provide. As far as technical issues, I've experienced absolutely none. As far as support goes...amazing! The support they provided was more than I needed or could ask for. I never felt as if I was being put on "hold"…their employees for instantly respond to you, and I think that is amazing!!! Bottom line, if you're a small time home user looking for hosting or a new up and coming business, Host Department is more than you could ever ask for!! Just give them a shot, tell them what you need and you'll get it...Yeah!!!

Worst tech support!

I've repeatedly used their support ticket system and emailed them only to receive no help. I'm then contacted at random intervals by "Jessica" who tells me my support question has been bumped to the top of the queue but I *still* have heard nothing from them. The email from one of my sites never gets through, my sites are constantly going down and I get random timeouts. They make no effort to resolve any of this. Their network status page even says all servers are fully functional. Their Live Chat is a joke. I've sat here on many occasions with the window open for hours with the "All operators are currently busy assisting others. Thank you for your patience. An operator will be with you shortly." message repeated over and over. I've *never* spoken with one of their reps.

When the hosting works it's brilliant but when something goes wrong they don't give a damn, obviously don't even know there's a problem half the time, and never even bother to contact me regarding my support tickets. I'd avoid this hosting at all costs. I've been with many companies over the years but this one outright wins the 'worst hosting of my life' title.

I thought I had finally found a reliable webhost...wrong. They will not address my problem, only talk around it. I don't think they know how to solve it. Instead of telling me this, they repeat: "Its a pleasure to serve you." I'm looking for someone who knows what they are doing. Any suggestions would be very helpful. If you are thinking of hosting with them, save your money for a reliable company.

Poor Customer Service

Even though they claim a 6-12 hour response window, I’ve received no response from the Support Center for several days after submitting a ticket. I have some tickets that have been open (and are still open) for six working days with no response. I even requested an update to the original ticket and received no response from that.

It would be nice to talk to a person live and not have to rely on the Live Chat or Ticket option.

The skill base of the Live Chat personnel is extremely poor. One Chat person said the RSS feed problem I was having was being worked on by the developer team, when in actuality it was a problem with my popup blocker (that I diagnosed and fixed on my own).

My list of complaints and problems with the support of this product goes on and on. I think you get my point.

From a support perspective, Host Department is well below acceptable.

To end on a positive note - The product was very easy to setup.

I have no problem in recommending Host Department. Their service and support has always been tops and their prices and features are definitely number one. The extra mile they go to give personalized attention has been a breath of fresh air in a time where customer service seems to be forgotten about by most organizations. Our experience with this hosting service has been more then #1 in my books and they are highly recommended by our organization.

Do not choose them

I have had problems since day one. The browser times out when trying to connect to the webserver. They tried telling me to change my FTp timeout settings (they misspell a lot. Then I told them again it was the browser timing out and told me to wait. I waited for two weeks and no resoltion. I had them transfer my account to a new server (took a week and half while they state it takes 24 hours). They promised no more problems after the server transfer. Well, same issue. So I just now put in a request to cancel my account.

My letter to Host Department

I want to cancel my account with Host Depart. When initially signing up, your site boasts a 100% uptime, but for the last 2 weeks my site has been anything but up. My site has not been accessible due to server timeouts and servers not being found over 90% of the time. The script packages that come installed in the control panel are non functioning as the database server can not be accessed.

I've contacted tech support more times than I can count, who has given me the same excuse every single day about your SysAdmin is looking into the problem and to try back later. I've grown frustrated with trying back later and the same thing continues to happen. I can't run an online hosting business if my OWN site is never up, so how can I expect to tell my customers that their sites will be up.

I spend more time in chat support waiting for answers, than getting any answers. And the answers I do get don't even begin to make sense let alone relate to the problem that I am having.

Their Response to My Letter

First of all, Please kindly accept our sincere apology for all the disappointment and the inconvenience caused by the service. We really understand the critical situation that you have experienced, We endeavor to make the most of the service however the server downtime occasionally inevitable and intermittent, We also admit that we might have not served you as much as you expect, Hence we would like you to give us a second chance to make it all up or at least do whatever we can do which is to transfer the server to another one which is more reliable and less downtime. Please reconsider and we will also add another free months for 1 month and 2 with 50% Discount price.

Prior to that, We have taken the step to follow up your request by suspending your account temporarily, Please let us know as soon as possible that you are willing to give us another chance and we will reinstate your account shortly, We'll e looking forward to hearing from you soon.
