Awful service - terrible results

I have been with them for quite a long time now - at first they were very professional and kind, but in time, and specifically since the beginning of 2009, it's become a real nightmare. The on/off downtime is very frustrating, the tech support is even worse. I started losing clients that were very unhappy with the service. I am going to move away to another hosting company in january 2010 - I'm leaving very bad comments everywhere because they deserve it! They're very efficient ONLY when it's time to get my money.

I have been with them for around 2.5 years now. I have around 40 clients (90 domains). Their services are not acceptable any more.
If any one wants their business to go down, then resell HD.
The only issue I am facing with leaving them to a new host is that I have sold unix+windows+Cold Fusion hosting through Host Department and really I need someone to help me move to another company that provides such hosting platforms.
In short, I have won clients over time, but lost many others. The sad thing is that all the clients I lost were due to HD downtime (sites and emails).

I can attest to the validity of the other review written today (10/21/2009): my site has been down for about 12 hours now. My site has frequently been down these past few days. As soon as the services are back online, I plan on moving to a different host as well (let's hope they do come back online.....).
At first, I was pleased with Host Department, but over the years, the hosting has gotten worse and worse. It all started last year. Now, this wasn't exactly Host Department's fault, but a router in en-route to my server had failed. I contacted Host Department, and they wouldn't do anything about it. They said it was not their problem. Eventually, I had to contact the company who owned that router myself in order to get the problem be fixed. A good web host would have been more helpful.
Ever since then, it's been issue after issue. My site will go down for hours at a time, often without any warning on their 'server status' page. I think in the last 5 days my site has been down every other morning for at least an hour. Last month, I was getting a 'too many connections' error on my database for about 10 days in a row. This is frustrating. I'm fed up with the lack of up-time. I'm paying to have a website, but they're not providing me this service. My money is being wasted.
I'll leave you with a couple funny stories:
I once contacted their live support, using the name Kathryn, and the assistant, whose name was something like George White, addressed me as 'sir'. I don't think his name was really George White...

Unreliable service -10-19-09 all sites down for 11+ hrs - support vanished

At first, they were a good value and reliable. Each year has gotten worse.
Each time they do an "upgrade" to their service, reliablity gets worse. Each time, my sites have been down from 3 days to a week! Insane.
I've given up on support since I no longer receive response to my tickets. Live chat is down, they now say to use an alternate link. It works, but the response is about 10 - 15 minutes between chat responses. More than not Live Chat is down and you can only leave a message, which never gets returned.
When their service comes back up, I'm going to copy all my sites toanother host and goodbye pathetic hostdepartment.
Oh yeah, they don't refund for downtime...go ahead and try.

We have about 4 years with hostdepartment, and we lose about 50% of our clients... right now 19/OCT/09 we dont have service in ALL SERVERS!!!
We don't know what have to say to our clients... we will move to a dedicated server or another provider because the service is the worst one.

Worst Ever to say the Least

Worst ever experience hosting with Host Department. chat service --- you are lucky if you get them.
Ticket support -- Average RESPONSE TIME (not issue resolving) 17 hours as per my tickets.
Horrible to say the least.
Many of my tickets are pending without response from last 5 to seven days including the ones addressed to quality control.

They are the worst

They are the worst company ever, there uptime is more 40% up and 60% down, SQL server slow, SSL Shared server not compatible with IE8, require you to buy dedicated, server get hacked easy, lost all my data 2 times, poor support, Livechat always offline, they don't do backup of there server so when you get hacked, your done. I am switching over, screw them they are fraud.

Poor support. You need to wait atleast 15 minutes to get a live help person.
They will atleast take 30 min saying "let me check".
Finally they will say, let me raise a ticket for you.
This ticket will be answered by after 12-24 hours, saying "Your site is working now. please check."
Better stay away particularly if you are a reseeler.
Do not get lured by low prices.
Because, I am a reseller and now I am in a position where I cant stay with them ( Poor service) or cant leave them ( Almost 100 websites hosted with them. I cant even imagine moving all of them to another server. NIGHTMARE)

stay away from these people as they are not the best technical people who can help you, they dont know what is the meaning for FTP, they dont know to set up a database, all they know is to get money from us and cheat us, they will never refund with in the 30 days, i know people who still sending email to hostdepartment asking for money but in vain.
they dont have 99.99% uptime, they had 66% uptime on an average for the months oct , nov and dec 2008

Value for Money, i have been with them for almost a year and never had serious issue, unfortunately i'm closing down my business so i dont need any hosting service anymore, but thanks for taking care my domain name Host Department :)
