Globat is by far the best web hosting company I have had experience with. After trying 5 other hosts prior to Globat I can now say that I'm just going to stick with the best...Their price, features, and service is unbeatable. 5Stars from me!

I have been with Globat for about nine months and in the process of about to set up a new site I did some searching to look for any new companies that have come along. It seems Globat still has all lots of coverage with the ads and the reviews, and I think I might stay with Globat for my second site. My main beef with Globat is that if you want to have more than one site on an account the prices jump up. That's just me wanting something for nothing though! Support was a bit flaky at the start of the year but I have been having much better luck in these past few months. So unless I see any better, I will probably stick with them

I initially had few if any problems with Globat. The setup was quick and painless (except I had to wait several days to get FrontPage extensions activated). My main complaint has been with the e-mail system. First, the webmail function in nearly useless and it is different from the service that is shown in the tech support section of their website. In fact, it has Globat’s logo all over it. If you can even log into the webmail, the site is extremely slow and unresponsive. I often have to click on an e-mail, go off to do something else, and then hope when I come back that the e-mail has opened (I have had this experience on different office LANs and high speed home access at my own and other peoples’ houses).
Besides the webmail, I have trouble checking e-mail with client software. I have had this problem with both Outlook 2000 and Eudora 5.0. It goes through phases where I have no problems for a couple of weeks, and then I will have a week where I only get through maybe twice a day. I have contacted tech support many times and they will tell me that it is fixed (and it will be for a couple of days) then the problem returns.
Other than e-mail, the website itself is generally very slow to load. The tech support is generally slow and I have found the support tickets to be fairly useless. When you get someone on the live chat they are generally nice and fairly knowledgeable. I went with the site because of its large storage space and was prepared for limited tech support. With other web hosts I have had little reason to ever need to talk to tech support so I did not think this was important. I now know that I was wrong.

Globat have been a reliable and well featured budget host. Their customer support is patchy (sometimes a helpful response, sometimes a curt reply, once nothing at all)and their status panel does *not* reflect the current service status. For example, at 5 August 2003, raw logs are inaccessible and Webalizer isn't working (since an upgrade on 22/7) but the status panel consistenly reports that everything is okay. But, you get what you pay for, and this offers a lot of space and bandwidth and a lot of great features (CGI/mySQL etc) for a very reasonable price. Servers aren't the fastest ever, but fast enough. Email has proved 99% reliable. I've had difficulty running many CGI scripts on this host and have found that the majority of features are disabled under /web_user accounts (presumably to prevent reselling on this package, but not much help for legitimate purposes!!) Overall a reliable host with a good variety of tools; would suit a large personal site or a smallish business site, provided the user didn't need a great deal of support in using the features. Good value for money, particularly for a host that permits adult content.
