Been a Futurequest customer for over 10 years and you couldn't get me to go anywhere else! They have kickbutt service and they're updating all of the servers right now with no costs passed on to the customer. I don't see myself ever leaving. thanks FQ!!

Hello, I was the last person to review FutureQuest. I had missed the part to rate the Customer Service, Technical Quality and Price/Value. I did that on this review to counter-balance my last review where everything said 10.
Go with Hostmonster, or Bluehost... Heck, even Yahoo! is a better hoster (even though Yahoo is a little pricier, it's a much better value)

I'm a web developer, designer and marketer. My job is to build beautiful and appealing websites for clients. One of my clients already signed up for FutureQuest hosting and domain name registration before coming to me for help. He was so frustrated with the support he asked if I could just take over the whole thing for him... I obliged. I've used four hosting companies now for other clients (I'm trying to merge them all onto ONE now), and have to say that FutureQuest has been the most difficult to work with.
Reasons;
1. Ugly GUI. Their own site is so horrid that it took me 2 days to find the necessary information on their servers to be able to FTP correctly, get the proper
2. The day that this particular client's site was finished and ready to upload, FQ's hosting server was not responding and was glitchy, it took about 14 hours to properly restore. Then once uploaded, it took over 24 hours for the change to take effect!!!! Horrendous, and my client was so excited to have his new website online to show off. Shame he had to wait 2 more days!
3. Their custom proprietary CNC account management is the most barbaric, under-featured management system I've seen in the last 10 years. 9 out of 10 hosting providers use CPANEL, and for a reason! CPANEL blows CNC out of the water every time, with every feature and you get so much more for the same $ amount.
4. Cost. 100mb of storage with 5gb of bandwith and 15 email accounts for 119 a year. Hostmonster.com offers unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth and unlimited email accounts for 119 a year, and uses CPANEL which you'd find much much more user friendly for beginners AND professionals.
I recommend Hostmonster, they offer more, the GUI is much more user friendly. they have all the information you need on a VERY simple FAQ site, and cost the same as FQ. Updates and uploads are instantaneous!

FutureQuest was once a great hosting company. Top notch tech support, awesome forum, unbeatable uptime, and more. FutureQuest was really an industry leader.
Today, FutureQuest is a stale, overpriced, underpowered, and unreliable hosting company (relative to their competitors). The forum, once a large selling feature, is mostly quiet and no longer a very helpful community resource. Competitors have continued to improve uptime and service, while lowering prices, but FutureQuest has not been able to keep pace. Part of the reason is that it is locked into its own proprietary systems that it has been unable or unwilling to invest in improving. Another problem with the proprietary system is that glitches have caused problems for several years that FutureQuest has been unable to track down. An announcement of a server restart is made on an almost daily basis, which is not good when you consider FutureQuest is not a massive hosting company.
FutureQuest's reseller program pales in comparison to what competitors offer and FutureQuest does not really have a good understanding of a modern reseller program. They do not offer their resellers tools to enable efficient account management and they have changed the terms so that the financial incentives are not very compelling either.

I think I may have had less than an hour of down time in 5 years! All server upgrades have been so smooth I never knew they happened. The transfer is fast, and never gets sluggish.
The support is online, friendly, and they answer very promptly (on weekends too). There is a nice online community with lots of help from other "hostees". I feel like I know these people.
They do not offer a lot of disk space for the money but if you don't need it the packages are nicely graduated. All have MySQL. They are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for!

Technically savvy, excellent uptime, good security features, quick tech. support responses. It's good to have a Linux server that I can ssh into now that I don't run my own. On the other hand it's a bit shy on automated install scripts--if you want to be able to hit a button and have everything magically work, they don't have that feature.
They do have a custom control panel that works well, and gives you some database-inspection ability, which partly makes up for the fact that they don't give you phpmyadmin by default.
My big complaint is that the low-end plan offers SO little storage--I once built a single package and, between the object files and source code, exceeded my 100Mb quota. To their credit, they just warned me that I was over quota and I deleted files--they didn't silently charge me, or charge me at all, since I got the files off in time.
I am looking for a new host, though, partly because of space, and partly because the new app I just completed uses PHP5 features and they're still on PHP4.

At first, I started with them after being tired of the hosting choices my ex-business partner was making. First a cheapo who moved our site to a new IP address without forwarding. Then a "friend" of his who basically wouldn't allow me anything. Then I found FQ...
Lightening fast FTP, great uptime, amazing service, everything they use is customized to their company. NO CPANEL!!!! The custom CNC is great, stats decent, their web interface to EZ-MLM fantastic, free spam assasin with the ability to black hole an addres (who actually has "sales@mydomain.com"?), or bounce anything that doesn't pass spam filters. Lots of control, easily.
Since then I tried other hosts for some small projects or to get cheaper access to MySQL. All dismal experiences. All new sites of mine are at FQ. I'd rather pay more and have it done right the first time.
A lot of other webmasters laugh at me for paying a onetime fee for subdomains and IRM's. Well, after my other host upgraded Cpanel and mispointed my add-on domains to empty directories that were created by the upgrade, I'm more convinced than ever I'd rather pay money than heartache.
Hosting is important to my business. If it's important to yours, FQ is the best.
