To call my hosting experience with Eirca disappointing would be a monumental understatement. Let's take a quick look at the issues:
1. There is absolutely no way to reach customer support. Ever. Period. Help desk tickets are simply ignored, or worse, tickets get closed *manually* without response. ***This includes emergency tickets for things like server outages (which happen a little too frequently)***. Their phone lines are all disconnected, and I've not once seen Live Chat operational in at least the past year. Finally, their management@ email address recently started bouncing back (though before then, it was rare emails were acknowledged anyway).
2. I paid for server upgrades I never received. I wish I could say this was an isolated case, but I've done a little research, and it appears I'm far from the only one who experienced this problem. I finally ate the losses just so I could be rid of them and move on. The amounts (less than $1,000 CAD) are not worth pursuing legally, but I wonder how many more people received similar treatment. I bought RAM, I expected to receive RAM, I never received it, and now I'm treating it as a loss, in a manner similar to how retail stores account for employee theft.
3. The servers I had were poorly administered. Of course I had no idea this was the case until I moved elsewhere and found I didn't need the extra RAM I thought I was going to receive for performance reasons, because of greater issue was how my servers were set up and managed in the first place! The difference between loads, CPU performance, speed and reliability is night and day, and I'm actually using slightly lesser builds!
I'm not inclined to share any names, because I still have a few clients being served by Eirca, and I fully expect by publicizing my experience my clients may experience retaliation. Should you choose to make the horrible mistake of hosting with this "company," I urge you to heed my words well, and to remember them when the same thing happens to you, as it has happened to so many others.
Avoid Eirca at all costs!
