I hosted with Doreo for a while and made good use of their service. However, things turned sour as soon as a challenging situation came along. One of my sites was compromised (possibly via a Wordpress plugin) which resulted in Doreo support sending me a harsh email warning me to fix it or they would delete all my sites permanently.

Needless to say I was shocked. Fair enough my sites had been compromised and I would do everything I could to sort it out, but they were not willing to help me find out the cause (i.e. which site, how they got in etc.) and I did what I could. They ignored my request for logs etc.

This was expected, as many of my support requests were ignored.

A couple of months later the same thing happened, except they gave me 48 hours to move my sites away. I was on holiday at the time, but they simply didn't compromise and left me with a lot of hassle.

Reading between the lines - I used Doreos hosting with popular sites and they resented this. Basically they didn't want to host my sites because I was using the hosting to the limits they had given me. They would much rather host sites that get 5 hits a day and don't ask any support questions.

In summary - avoid Doreo, there are plenty of other hosts around who will actually work with you. Not against you.

I always take the time to ensure that I’m an educated consumer when it comes to an important purchase and while I do have strong frugal spending habits I have very few problems with paying for quality when it’s required.

I’m currently in the process of building an upgrade to TMWTFS and decided a few months ago to begin searching for an online hosting company for the new site. I read multiple reviews, paid posts, asked my blogging peers for their opinions and did a lot of independent research trying to find a good compromise between cost, performance and security.

There are a lot of hosting companies out there, big and small, that target users on cost, performance and security. With user reviews mixed and many fellow peers changing who they host with on a regular basis I knew I wanted to be conscious of achieving a balance in what I needed.

What I decided to do was ask the industry leaders: bloggers who run some of the most read blogs in the world.

Daniel Scocco, author of Daily Blog Tips and founder of Online Profits, is one individual on my daily reading list. Daniel blogs on a different niche than investments, but provides useful insights into developing and maintaining an online brand and readership.

There are a lot of blog authors and websites who recommend certain hosts and many of them I’m sure are very reputable companies with a strong base of consumers. Doreo is Daniel’s personal and professional choice for hosting his websites and although I had never heard of the company before I quickly learnt why Daniel would decide to use them for his highly read sites and livelihood.

Doreo has been established in the hosting business for five years and hosts websites for personal use and high volume sites. Their hardware is top notch, they run off four different and established network providers and their downtime is…well…nearly non-existent. Their uptime stats for their networks can be found here with an accurate yearly history and their hosting is 100% US based.

Customer and technical support at Doreo is one key feature that I’ve found unrivalled among hosting companies. During daytime hours, afternoons and evenings I had an opportunity to converse live, online, with their support staff for all my questions and concerns about integrating my already purchased domains from another provider. When I sent any emails they were returned promptly.

Doreo supports a number of hosting options and provides Fantastico for easy integration of any WordPress blog, Wiki, discussion forum or content management website. As a long time author with Blogger moving to a WordPress based site was intimidating and the integration of WordPress through Fantastico into cPanel was effortless with the help of the Doreo staff.

Doreo offers a money back guarantee and a no hassle full 90 day refund if your experience or performance isn’t what you expect.

I would highly recommend the hosting services at Doreo to any author looking to independently host their website and packages range from $6.99 to $16.99 per month and are adequate for most small or medium sized websites.

If you’re in the market for a new hosting company, alternative host for your frequently down site or wondering if a switch from Blogger to WordPress is in your future feel free to ask questions or comment and I’ll do my best to provide insight on my continued experiences with Doreo.
