Horrible, money-grubbing company with poor customer service.

I started out with canaca when I opened my website years ago. Among the many problems I have had:

-Video content, which was compressed by canaca until the videos came up in a one-inch-by-one-inch format (unviewable).
-When I had trouble with email spam, they tried to downsell me to a cpanel format (cheaper for them) from the Ensim I paid for... I refused, but they eventually downgraded all their servers to cpanel, with no change in price.
-I had several people tell me that my page content was inaccessible for months following their switch,
-Their customer service is by email, and you have to explain over several emails (and days) for them to understand the problem.... good luck if they fix it.
-I am switching to another host, so didn't respond to their "renew now" emails, but canaca is claiming that I had to cancel with them earlier to avoid their charges. They are charging me over $64.00+ for nothing.

I have two full-time jobs, and I don't have time to nurse a website all day. Canaca.com is a poor choice for anyone who wants their website content and accessibility to be respected by the host while they're gone. And don't expect them to respect your money, either. As far as they're concerned, what's yours is theirs.

They are veeeery slow to respond and even if they get the information they ask for-nothing happens. It is all e-mail support. No phone support.
I.ve had my page and email down for over two weeks now.
I am not recommending them for hosting.

Well, I quit. After suffering thru an 8 day outage on my domains, things are finally back up and running - and they lost 8 days worth of e-mail. I did a tradeshow last summer, and the site was down for 2 days during that. Another tradeshow last Saturday, the site was down from last Friday thru THIS Saturday. Any contacts made during my show are probably gone, since they couldn't view my website OR send an e-mail.

And that's not including the myriad of 8-12 hour outages.

Of course, the tech support is in India, meaning that their schedule is opposite mine - meaning that it takes 24 hours to get thru one back-and-forth e-mail.

If you are looking for the CHEAPEST hosting for your domain, and up-time is not a factor, Canaca works. DO NOT risk your business traffic with these people though.

Canaca Spam

We've used this company to host our website for a couple of years now. We've had numerous problems with downtime and terrible customer support. The only way to get in touch with them is through email and the response time is terrible. On top of that, because our canaca hosted email server was down, I used my personal email address which I make a point of never using online (to reduce being added to spam lists.) The very next day, I started getting spam emails. I should note that I've had this email address since 2001 and had not gotten any spam emails until I used the email address to get in touch with canaca. The obvious conclusion is that canaca distributes email address to spam companies. Stay away from this company.

Can't get much worse.

They don't send bills, they only send late notices. When you get one, you're just days away from your web site being taken down. They've taken down our web site three times, always because I can't get a company check cut in time. They claim to have a toll free number, but it just gets you a menu which leads to a bunch of different messages like "All billing questions are handled by email. Send an email. Goodbye." Customer service is as bad as it can be.

I have been a customer of Canaca for the last few years ago. Over the few weeks I have had more and more complaints from my site visitors and members that my site was down. I have been looking into and found that my down time seems to be increasing and I'm getting very disturbed about it. You advertise a 99.9 uptime rate but look at the link and you can see for yourself that this is not very true.

Over the last 28 months you failed to meet this number 19 times, that means you only met this number 32% of the time. NOT VERY GOOD…….

I also have looked back service tickets that I have sent in it would appear that 24 to 60 hours is the normal turnaround time. I sent one in 24 hours ago and have not heard from it. It was marked as URGENT, noting that my site was down, as of this email sent time I still have not heard back. This is very upsetting and very poor technical support and customer support.

I have approximately 6 mounts remaining on my contract and I’m already starting to look around at other host providers. I wish that Canaca will get there service together and start offering what is advertised on their website.

Probably Fraudulent

This company pretends to offer 24 hour telephone support. What you actually get is a message that tells you to submit an email support ticket. This is impossible if your web service isn't working of course.

This company will also charge you a twenty percent premium on the invoice as they do a conversion from US to Canadian dollars at a rate they apparently feel free to make up themselves.

we're moving as we speak...
There should be an easy way to sue these people for failure to meet their contract obligations.

The service just gets worse day by day. Lost emails a few times in the last year or so. Getting so slow it's unmaintainable remotely. Site was totally lost for 2-3 days, while they moved it without notice a few months ago.

Site is currently down for the last 48 hours. None of the video clips play, or are seen by www. yet they are there.

I'm allowed 1500 gig bandwidth and using 20 gig, the system is that unbalanced.

Frequently seeks for include files ail with timeouts. Worse performance anywhere...bar none...

And that's what I get with a 5Mbps download and 440Kbps upload from here. bad, bad, pathetic...

Well I have been with then for close two 2 years now and now I thinking of changing down the road. There up time is 82 on one of my sites but 2 others are up 92 of the time.
This is not a bad for the money. Customer service has actually has been pretty good. If my web site dose well then I will go with a dedicated service. But over all i have been pretty satisfied with there service. But if you are a customer with 0 tolerance then this may not be the place for you. I have read a lot of complaints and I know people that have there dsl service and they are constantly having a hard time. I think things went down when they teemed up with acanica . My site has not even taken off yet, we will see what happens when the real traffic comes and I can see how the server is going to work out. But I had already had in mine that one day I will go to a dedicated server. For the price I can’t complain at all. And allowed time for devolving the site at a reduced cost

I am using canaca services since 3 years ago and to be honest I had not any big deal with their services and also the customer service, Customer care is just fine sometimes they have some mistakes but all and all they are helpful.
