Anybody Home at AssortedInternet?

Looks like they went offline sometime around noon Eastern, March 6, 2009. All twelve of my domains hosted there, as well as www.assortedinternet.com are nonresponsive and timeout with pings. I made one call and got a DISCONNECTED message, so it doesn't look too good right about now (over four hours into the outage).

Severe Warning before you go ahead

For a month now I have been locked out of my account. You won't see my site because it's in suspension. Why? Beats me. I have sent them copies of all my up-to-date PayPal invoice receipts and for a month now I have been locked out of my account. No reply from them. Now even when I send an email to Billing, it bounces back. Thoroughly fed up. I should add that prior to this episode I was happy with their service.

WHen I first signed on with them they were excellent. I would have given them straight 10s accross the board.

I was (and am) dismayed to see the support side of the organization slide into disarray. Some of the issues I dealt with:

* unexplained outages for days at a time.

* systems taken down for "maintenance" for up to a day at a time without prior notification.

* loss of data after a system was down

* critical software versions downgraded without prior notice.

* long times to response on trouble tickets.

* trouble tickets closed without any communication or explaination of issue resolution and in at least one case the issue not being resolved at all.

To be fair this seems to have had its start around the June 2006 time frame. Prior to that most of the tickets elicited a response from Brian Lodgson who was very repsonsive and knowlegable. Around June 2006 I found other folks in the support organization didn't seem to care if I was a customer or not.

The month of August was a final straw. During that month at one point or another both of the sites that I hosted with them experienced multi-day outages. One of my websites was broken to the point it never came back. After opening multiple tickets on the issue and supplying more that enough information to resolve the issue I gave up.

Leaving this provider was not a happy time for me, but I felt I had no choice. My complaints to the sales organization and billing organization did not even elicit a response.

I guess they just didn't care any more.

Hello ,
I am customer of assortedinternet for over
3 years now. I started with
a shared host, that was
very fast and app. 99% online.
The server was just 2 or 3 times down for a few hours,
but the problem was fixed
very quick.
Since a few month I am using
a dedicated server and everything
works fine again.
No trouble , just a really
fast and easy to manage
server.
Yes , I think assortedinternet does a
really great job.
And I forgot to say , that
their support is excellent
and quick , too .
I had tested 4 other web hosts before like
cwihosting (really bad support!) and assortedinternet.com
was absolutely the
very best.

I'm very happy with AssortedInternet.com, they've only been down one night in six months for maintenance. I had a PHP Module blowout and they fixed it in a matter of hours.
Of the 70 features I've used, they've all worked flawlessly. Guestbook, Forums, MySql databases all setup with ONE or TWO clicks!

Assorted Internet Ventures delivers great value and service for the money. I hosted one site with them initially, and liked it so much that I've moved 3 other sites to them as well.
