I have been a satisfied aplus.net customer for years. After their so called control panel "upgrade" there are a lot of issues going on since months and they don't seem to be able (or willing?) to get it fixed. I'm moving everything to a new hosting company. My business is at risk!

I had been a customer for years and was satisfied, but they recently did an "upgrade" and broke the ability to host wordpress blogs (due to a VERY outdated version of libxml2 from 2006 you can't update the blog from any 3rd party app). They refuse to fix it and are even less helpful about compensating me for the headaches they have given me.

I've had an APlus site since May 2003. Fine. I added another Feb 2009. Fine. Last week I added a 2nd domain to my Feb site.
DISASTER!!! I'm working on my THIRD trouble ticket and no-one knows how to make it work. No access. The chats are so stupid they're insulting. The emails are boiler plate answered 5 days later. The phone conversations result in: I don't know. I'll write a trouble ticket.
Like with other corporations - At&T comes to mind - there's a big marketing push followed by no support. Sales is always available, but forget anything near competent support. I've spent HOURS this week trying to fix my sites. No dice. I cancelled today.

I'VE BEEN WITH APLUS.NET FOR 10 YEARS.
FOR THE PAST NINE MONTHS, I HAVE HAD AN ECOMMERCE STORE WITH THEM.
EVERYTHING WAS GREAT UNTIL THEY MERGED WITH ANOTHER COMPANY MOVED WEBSITES TO NEW SERVERS.
23 DAYS AND COUNTING. MY WEBSITE HAS NOT WORKED FOR 23 DAYS. NO ORDER, NO ANSWERS, NOTHING.
STAY AWAY FROM APLUS.NET. THEY ARE IN A MESS. THEY MAY GO OUT OF BUSINESS IF THEY CAN'T FIX THEIR SHIP!
IT IS SINKING.

Weak Database Connectivity

My client's existing, basic site was been hosted there for a while and I became aware of Aplus.net a couple weeks ago while developing a new site.
Shortly after getting my hands dirty, they performed server upgardes that lasted a week. During this time, my client was unable to use their built-in website updater to make changes. I was however able to make chages for her using my own local editor and FTP.
A couple weeks later, I am testing my almost-complete new site and the MySQL database connection started failing. I was using 'localhost' in my PHP connection string and figured out on my own that this suddenly didn't work anymore and had to use a server name instead. No big deal, I figured this was due to the upgrades.
Today (a couple days after), my database pages are failing again. I tried changing back to localhost for my connection but it didn't work. I then tried to get into my phpAdmin to see my databases and I couldn't. A half hour later, I can now get into the phpAdmin again, but I no longer have any tables in my database.
Perhaps I will have to start yelling if they don't come back.
If they can't bring them back, I will be moving the site to my preferred host immediately.
If they can bring them back and these connection failures continue, I will still need to rid myself of these guys as the site is very DB-dependent and this is unacceptable.
In summary, not impressed with the 3 weeks of my experience thus far...

they were taken over by hostopedia and are nothing but a helpdesk now. hostopedia is horrible. have had nothing but major headaches with them. do not use them.

As we were backing up our site (which Aplus was aware of) they proceeded to do maintenance on the server which led to a series of events that caused us to lose most of our site. We went from 150,000 members to less than 60,000 overnight. They refused to compensate in any way. Their communication to the customer and even between themselves is terrible. Now that we have moved to a new server and have canceled our service with them, they still insist on charging us for an extra month. This is one of those companies that is into hosting strictly for the money. They are not concerned about customer service. Stay Away!!!

Living with customer support for the past 2 months

We are talking to their customer support for the past 7 weeks to fix a network connectivity problem. Its a problem with the OS which they took very lightly in the beginning and now their managers are so aggressive at blaming us.
Honestly, do not look at them if you want to do your job peacefully.
Their support will take you as lightly as possible. And once you break your head and escalate it to the higher management, then be prepared to fight. Dont try to talk sense, just be as aggressive as possible because you have to fight.
I have nothing else to say, and you can judge the rest.

Support & billing are arrogant, FTP server disconnected all the time, servers are SLOW and all they are doing is trying to upsell you. They won't prorate refund on yearly plans. They should be ashamed. Stay away!
