My Account was reset suudenly - Review

On 7/5/2008, I received an email from vodahost, stating that "Your account was taken off-line for Phishing. We are not accusing you of anything wrong, but your account did have a phishing page on it". I was asked to provide my id to continue using their service. I replied to them, explaining them about the scripts I was hosting at their server and also promised them to send my id. Suddenly two days back, I was informed that my account had been reset. Is it fair on their part? If there are not ready to host my websites (all of which are just Directory scripts), they should have asked me to take backup of my stuff stored that their server and close my account. Now all my scripts which took three years for me to create are lost. I don't have a backup of those. Vodahost has tarnished my whole online business and career. Is there any way to get compensation from them. I had hosted over 50 websites at the server. They had deleted all my scripts and also my emails stored at their server without informing me. I'm really worried. I don't know what to do now. I'm looking forward for this forum's guidance in this pertinent.

I am currently a vodahost customer and I urge everyone who reads this. Stay away from vodahost. I have been having problems with them since the first week I signed up 2 years ago.
I thought maybe after a couple of weeks it would get better since I was new at this.
Then the problems just got worst. My emails would be deleted when they did their maintenance.
their customer support is an open ticket that gets no answer.
For the past 2 years...yes a said 2 years I had nothing but problems.
From email problems to poor support to no answers, no phone number to call just open unanswered tickets. NO RESULTS. I HOPE THAT VODAHOST READS THIS AS I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO READ THEIR RESPONSE.
I HAVE FINALLY HAD IT AND AS OF NEXT MONTH WE WILL BE TRANSFERRING TO ANOTHER COMPANY.

Unable to connect - Firewall problem - Review

Initially I thought their service and support was very good, however after attempting to publish my website I continually received an error message (12029) which they explained was a firewall problem. After adding VodaBlue to my list of exceptions on my firewall, Trend Micro, thus allowing communication between them and my computer and having no success, I contracted an IT professional to address this issue. After about 7 hours of professional support the same error message (12029) was received. We resorted to turning off the firewall, and even tried to publish the website from an alternative computer. Guess what? Same message, error 12029 firewall issue.
I sent several emails to BlueVoda/VodaHost and one reply suggested I phone them. They provided phone numbers for the USA and UK and a number for callers outside these countries. I tried to call the number provided and received the response that the call was unable to complete the connection. In other words the number couldn't be reached.
Another email received the reply that they would call me, just confirm my contact number and the time zone I was in. I replied with this information. The response was a copy of their earlier email stating that the problem I was experiencing was a firewall issue.
Like another, I wish I had been aware of this site before I parted with my cash.
My advice to anyone contemplating using the 'free' website builder, BlueVoda, or having VodaHost as their host, is DON'T DO IT!
My 12 month's subscription is forfeited - don't get sucked in ike me. Go elsewhere for your website host - BUT check them out first!

I opened an account and their service was so bad that I canceled service the first week, yet even after a year they still bill my credit card even though I have never had a web site up and running ever. They act like they care, but they don’t. Just one example is they mark e-mail to me as low priority. I hope no one else gets caught in their net.

I had been a customer of vodahost for a long time. I have opened many support tickets about small to large problems.
Vodahost: Yay a small problem, lets answer it appropriately.
Me: Thanks for the reply, your only 5 days past your 24 hour limit. You didnt answer my question though, i dont want to hear about what your service offers, I want you to make it do what it offers.
Me: I would like you to read my post re: email system not working for a week, get some technicians bla bla
Vodahost: Our technicians are registered, thanks, though. Also visit this site: Leads to a website with profanities about "an a-hole customer"
Me:Oh thanks, i will come back for another year im sure. Please don't fix the problem while your at it.
Billing time: Method (other)
Hosting will be suspended at any time

As for those who say "contact me by phone i am not a vodahost employee contact me," get a life, we know your an employee.

I just signed up for VodaHost exactly one week ago. I have never made a website in my life, and other than knowing generally what html is, i have heard of php before etc... I had NO experience with web design or the technical details of how exactly things are published online.
In one week, I have created what I consider to be a very nice website for my business. I learned how to do a few things that would probably be nearly impossible if I was using some type of freeware or another DIY option. For example, I have easily put flash elements, video files, a cool thing that shows your images small and when you click on it they show up full size in the middle of the screen ( i think they call this feature 'lightbox' ) and, most impressive, a really cool contact form that has some advanced features like a scroll down menu for people to choose how they found your site and a checkbox to signify the answer to a question.
Granted, I really studied the video tutorials offered on vodahost.com and i patiently took the time to learn how to make that advanced form i mentioned. But, LITERALLY, I signed up last Saturday afternoon, and it is now late Friday night one week later. ONE WEEK!
The only issue I personally have had was very small, and I submitted a support ticket to deal with it. It took one day for them to reply, and another few days to fix the problem. Considering what I am getting for about $5.50 per month ( I paid for 3 yrs in advance ) I think their response time fixing my issue was fantastic!
I am taking the time to write this lengthy review because I feel like this website is skewed with negative reviews. While I understand where these comments are coming from, I really believe these particular users were either expecting way too much or were not prepared to really be in charge of making and publishing their own site. (One serious example is the reviewer who said they had a server crash and all his files and hard work were lost...WELL why didn't this guy save his original files, then he could have just published them again when the server problem was fixed...it really shouldnt matter if his files ONLINE were lost, you are supposed to save your original files (on your computer hard drive) as well.
I mean, if you can't think about saving your original files (AND backing up a second copy of everything on an external drive or something) then you really should not be trusting your website in your own hands.
Don't blame VodaHost for that, that's just ridiculous.
However, if you have the ability to learn new things fairly well, if you are a patient person, not easily agitated, and you (most importantly, I feel) are REALLY prepared to do your own web design AND publishing and are REALLY prepared to put the time in to learn the basics of how you can do this, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND VODA HOST.
If you make a decision based on a few people who had negative experiences with a fairly new (and undoubtedly GROWING) company, you may just miss out on a great solution to your web dilemma. I know I am really grateful (after one week) that I took a chance on Voda (and I, unlike some of the reviewers here, DID DO MY RESEARCH- I was well aware that some previous clients were disgruntled...but i was also well aware that many more were satisfied).

That is another thing brought up in several reviews, that you can't call them and talk to someone on the phone...THAT is how they keep their cost down, people! If (hopefully WHEN) enough people join this web hosting company, they will most likely be able to offer support in the form of phone or live chat(although in my opinion, with everything you get for such a low price, they ought to charge people an extra fee for such added phone support).
I want to close by commenting on the support forum, which many reviewers here criticize for apparently deleting negative postings (honestly if you are searching thru a forum for help with a question, do you really want to open postings that are really just complaints anyway?) in my experience, the other users in the Forum were very helpful to me in my first week. In fact, they went completely out of their way to try and help me (when it turned out the tech people at vodahost had to fix my issue anyway, so these nice people in the forum spent their valuable time trying to help me for nothing-if anything I felt bad for bothering them in the first place instead of just being patient and letting the voda techs fix my problem).
So that is my review, I hope it does some good countering all the negative rants on this site

After trying to receive help through their "help" forum my post kept getting edited and deleted. I then ask for a refund and to cancel my account. Below is the email I rec'd from them. Nasty scumbags. I have reported them to the FCC and you should too!

They have no phone support. You try to get help by adding a post to a forum but you still may not get any help. You can then submit a support a ticket but sometimes they don't anwser the ticket at all. If you need quick assistance and can spare to wait a week or two for a response then you may not have a problem. They have good webbuilding programs but you better not need any support.
