These indian guys ruined my business - i lost 70% of my clients while i was hosting with them.
After i changed then - the things are much better

Avoid these guys, they are not technically competent and the services are very unreliable for any business purposes. We have lost money in sales due to lengthy downtime. Support is very ineffective and not very knowledgeable.

These guys are should be avoided at all costs. The support is horrible, they have been trying to migrate their servers for the last 2 months and our site has been going on and offline. The support chat is useless.

We plan on moving as soon as possible.

random changes break working services

As others mention above, jodohost makes random engineering changes with no change management. My clients incoming email config was changed and broken by jodohost internal engineering. They gave no notification.
Then it took 14 days of pleading for help to teach me that jodohost does not care about professionalism and will sacrifice a client of 7 years without a thought.

It was a simple dns re configuration that was mismanaged and the failure of client systems was unecessary.

Terribly unprofessional.

I selected Jodohost because they had listed on their website that they give you 2 dedicated/static IP addresses with your hosting. I signed up because of this and tried to get my 2 Static IPs that were suppose to come with my plan and all I got was the run around. They continually wanted reasons why I needed a static IP and said there are only a few legitimate reasons that they will provide a domain with a static IP. False advertisement! I moved to another host and had no trouble getting what I needed. Jodohost is a JOKE!

What I like most about Jodohost is the support they offer. I run a small web based business and I host some of my clients on Jodohost. In the almost 6 years that I have been with them, I have been amazed at the assistance they have given me, even to troubleshooting 3rd-part scripts installed by my clients.

Sure there's been a few times when I wished for a faster response, especially when a client is breathing down my neck. And sometimes I wish that they would provide greater detail of what they did to fix the problem (that's the geek in me I guess).

However, on the whole they have been the best hosting provider I have experienced, both in terms of service and support

I’ve been with Jodohost since I launched the website in 2004. Over 2 weeks ago I reported an issue through their on-line tech support involving a barrage of “returned mail”, “undeliverable email”, “mail delivery failure” messages. These were to email addresses not in my address book nor to anyone I would have any reason to contact. My concern was that my email account was hacked and being used for spamming around the world. In my opinion, I hold the Webhost responsible for providing security and protection for my site and email address.
Here’s the sequence of communications I’ve had w/ Jodohost since I reported the issue. The Webhost does not provide phone support, as you’ll see in a response below, so I’m restricted to only interacting with them through the on-line tech support area. I’ve also included some examples of the returned email message headers in case anyone out there can provide an explanation where the Webhost can’t.

I have received A LOT of returned email notices, mailer daemon and system failure to deliver emails in the past few days. These notices are bouncing back from email addresses that I did not contact nor do I know who they are. I'm concerned my account has been hacked and is being used for spamming.
Will you please review this issue and confirm that my account is secure and it is not being used for spamming from your servers?

I have tried 4 times since this morning to provide samples. I've copy and pasted header info into this box, I've put them on a Word doc and attached below but the ticket is not getting updated accordingly.

This is getting very frustrating. I need to know that my account has not been hacked. My account is hosted on your servers and I need to be assured that it is secure and not being used illegally by spammers.

Do you mean 'fail'? There is no option for 'deny'. Additionally, I set it
to 'soft' based on prior direction from your company when I had an issue
like this in the past.
This has nothing to do w/ my password. It's a security issue w/ the fact
someone can hack into your servers and use my email for spamming purposes.
I need to know as a long-time, loyal customer that you are protecting my
email and providing the best security possible so someone does not use it
illegally.

Please believe me when I say I have tried to copy/paste in the same window
as my response 4 times today and your system does not accept those replies.

I'm adding the Word doc containing 6 examples of the types of returned mail
messages I've been receiving to make sure you get it this time. Please
review these samples and provide me w/ a thorough explanation as to why my
email was used to attempt these communications.

NO. I have replied to SOME of your emails through my personal email account as it is assigned as my contact email through the trouble ticket system.
This is beyond ridiculous and extremely frustrating from a customer point of view.
Do not make another issue and confuse the problem.
My email account hosted on YOUR servers is being used for spam. I have sent you plenty of examples. FOCUS on the true issue please.
Last I heard my issue was escalated. I want it escalated to the highest possible point and want a phone number to talk to someone who is able to provide a resolution.

I'm not convinced your conclusion is correct. I would like you to provide evidence based on the examples I provided as to why you think this is "joe-job" spam. Anyone could easily go on Wikipedia and find this article and say "here read this, this is your problem".

Additionally, the info in the Wikipedia article does not add up to what I have been experiencing.

For example: (quoting from the article)
1) "Some e-mail joe jobs are acts of revenge like the original, whether by individuals or by organizations that also use spam for other purposes." and "Joe job attacks in other media are often motivated politically or through personal enmity.
" - There is nothing I can see that shows this is the act of someone taking my email address and using it to defame my business. Most of the emails seem to have a UK connection and I have nothing to do w/ anything going on in the UK.

2)"If the joe-jobber is imitating a normal spam, it will simply advertise the victim's product, business or website. It may also claim that the victim is selling illegal or offensive items such as illegal drugs, automatic weapons or child pornography to increase the likelihood that the recipient will take action against the victim." None of this is true with the returned messages I've seen.

3) "They usually forge "from" addresses and email headers so that angry replies are directed to the victim. Some joe job attacks adopt deliberately inflammatory viewpoints, intending to deceive the recipient into believing they were sent by the victim." - Again this does not appear to be related to what I'm seeing. I have not received replies from any one directly, just 'Undeliverable messages'.

Please also review my ticket history. You will see I reported a similar issue on January 11, 2008. You can see the response I was given then to change some account configurations. Now this, the inconsistency in the way you try to resolve the issue leads to skepticism.

In general I experience this type of incident every few months on this account and decided to report it this time since the volume was so heavy.

I also receive an unacceptable level of spam emails every week that I've gotten use to deleting since the 'blacklist' filled up and I can't blacklist anyone anymore.

There appears to be spam control issues with the service you provide in general. If you have other information or ways me, as a customer and user of your service, can help manage this better please provide advice.

I have email accounts w/ 4 other service providers and have not had any problems like I have had w/ this account. That leads me to believe it has a lot to do w/ how you protect (or don't) your customers email accounts.

If you have evidence or information to help me understand better please provide it.

Do you want to argue w/ me or address the issue?

Look at the time stamps. The last I had heard was the ticket was escalated last Friday 5/13. I provided further info on Sunday, 5/15.
"Escalating" and letting it sit and not providing a valid explanation is unacceptable. It was 4 days later when I opened this ticket. Are you telling me it is reasonable to think it should take you 4 DAYS to provide an update after "escalating" the issue?

KINDLY provide a level of customer service that is acceptable and reply in a TIMELY manner.

Please confirm that you have received the new examples and explain why my ticket is "On Hold" AGAIN.

It has been almost 4 days since you gave me any reply, although that was just a confirmation per my request. I believe I have been more than patient and deserve more regular, consistent updates as this issue is 2 weeks old now.

Once again this is unacceptable customer service!

It has been 16 days since this issue was raised. I have provided you with everything you have requested. It took you 6 days since the last reply to tell me the same thing? What is going on?

An update is not ignoring the issue and repeating the same message. What have you done with the emails I've sent?

My next step is to file complaints with the FTC, Better Business Bureau and expose your poor customer service and tech support capabilities through on-line review and consumer advocacy websites.

They are most unreliable, unprofessional, irresponsible, rude, and technically insufficient. Choosing them has been simply a waste of valuable time and money for me. I have had countless issues with them in last 2 years but I had the worst experience some time ago.

I am not very technical myself but let me explain, the best I can. My website used localhost to send emails through the form (landing page) on the website. I have more than 10 website so sometimes I fail to pay due attention each of them frequently. One day I realized that I've not received any email lead from the website in question for over a month. I checked all code and scripts and found nothing. I contacted Josohost support to discuss the issue. Only then the customer support guy told me that they have blocked localhost/localhost emails about a month ago for some unknown reasons. They asked me to send emails through PHP using SMTP authentication. If they had to block it, they should have atleast informed us so that we could have made alternate arrangements. I could not believe it. It came as a shock to me to know that I have been loosing business for over a month just because of their carelessness and irresponsible attitude. Everyone reading it please put yourself in my shoes and tell me how does it feel to lose business like this.

I strongly advice everybody not to choose them and fall pray of their false advertising. Even if they offer is free of cost, dont gamble your business and reputation. If you have already done it, I wish you best of luck as you really need it.

Local host Settings for contact forms has been stopped to avoid SPAM blocks on our Mailservers. You may use user authentication to send emails at our server, that is technically safer way to avoid SPAM.

In our 8 years in business at JodoHost, it has been our goal to continually improve quality of our services while keeping prices locked-in at the same low monthly rates. Keeping this in mind, around June 2010, we leased a Private Data Center Suite in Waco, Texas. We have also acquired an office building and have our full-time staff working out of these offices.

In our Waco facilities, we have setup a new cloud-based platform that allows JodoHost to more effectively manage customer workload, provide larger resource allocations in an elastic/flexible environment and improve the overall uptime of our platform. From here, our plan is to move aggressively in Cloud hosting business, while continuing to support and expand shared, VPS and dedicated server hosting business. The central location of both Waco within Texas, and Texas geographically works well to provide a high level of services to all our customers with a high performance network and more stable weather conditions.

Over the past few months, we have moved most of our VPS business over to Waco DC(data center). In addition, we have moved some of the H-Sphere Servers. Starting next week and coming weeks, we are ready to migrate all the remaining H-Sphere Servers to this new facility which will put your hosting on fast track with brand-new servers and upgraded plan resources. With these changes Windows 2008 and MS SQL 2008 are available now for all new accounts.

This move does bring about some additional changes as we are utilizing a direct IP allocation from ARIN and this will require Customers and Resellers to change their IP addresses. Those who are using our DNS servers and services, IPs will be changed automatically. Anyone using custom nameservers for themselves will be required to update the IPs that their nameservers are pointing to, we will provide these IP addresses in a followup email to all resellers.

We strive to keep this as low impact as possible, keeping services live in both locations until reasonable time is given for DNS to switch over for users, and providing frequent updates on our forums at http://support.jodohost.com. Jodo, at least for my needs, has proven to be the one of the most professional hosts out there. There should be a category to rate "professionalism", that is an ethical, responsible and client-focussed approach. Jodo is definitely all those.

The reason I don't give customer service a 10, is simply that standard support is often manned by less than fluent English speakers, so communication is sometimes a bit awkward. But it's very easy to get hold of higher level support, they're all very accessible and friendly. The support experience is generally very good, far better than a lot of others.

If "customer service" was separate to "support", I'd give that a 10. Jodo is far from a faceless company, they really make an effort to address individual needs.

Overall, great company, one of the best in their class.
