I am the co-owner of a very small consulting firm, with no expertise in web hosting and little extra money to pay for hosting. I am also a baby boomer, so didn't grow up knowing how to manipulate software! With Hostway I was able to design,implement, and now maintain my website with no other help. We have received many compliments on our admittedly basic website, but it certainly does the trick for my company. Thank you, Hostway!

Utter rubbish

Hostway are the worst in everything they do, there web interface is outdated, their phone support sucks, I was on the phone - first in the queue for nearly 30mins!! They never send renewal reminders so things just expire and then your account goes offline, yor website goes down and you can't get any emails. I am moving!!

I have been with Hostway for five years. I have had at least three hosting plans, with Hostway over the years. Several domain name registrations over the five years. Hostway plans are attractively priced and Hostway technical support is very knowledgeable, they can resolve any problems you have with any issue you have with your Hostway Plan.
Hostway offers excellent plans and service. I will continue to do business with hostway years to come.

HostWay is the Worst Hosting Company!! Run!!!

I have been with Valueweb/Hostway for nearly 5 years. During that time my site has actually been up close to 3 years with the "normal" 2-3 month downtime in between. I have had to completely rebuild my site from scratch 2 times after they lost all of my files and back-ups, with nothing more from them than " We don't know what happened..sorry". They also have the tendency to "misplace" their client's payment histories and demand that you pay the amount that they "think" you owe them or they will shut down your site. Don't bother sending in financial records, from your bank, to prove them wrong, as they will only get "misplaced" as well. My advice to anyone who is considering using this, and I am using this term very loosely, "company" to host your site, should RUN! I have finally broken away from them, just this week, but not without having to leave my site behind. -Benjamin White - Founder/President of Deckpros Inc.

There is no way for the client to cancel a subscription off of the website. AND, there's no way for a client to find out HOW to cancel a subscription if they are logged into the website. I searched for over two hours to figure out how to cancel my service. I finally did a google search, and came to this page: http://www.hostway.com/legal/billing_policy.html which I can't even get to from my client page.

NEVER AGAIN.

Hostway used to be a great company. As of 2010, they suck. I need a reliable small business hosting plan with 24/7 support. I moved 10 sites away from Hostway. I have my major site to move, but Hostgator isn't the answer, where I have a dedicated (and slow) server. Any recommendations are appreciated. I will pay more for reliable, speedy service, but where is it?

Downhill Decade

I see numerous reviews here which mimic my experience. When I joined nearly a decade ago, they were great. No they suck. It's a clear progression and it's reassuring to see how many other people agree. It's not just me they've been picking on. My worst complaint is that they change things without my permission! Something as basic as my e-mail user id suddenly stoped working when they changed it's format without asking! They take my money, claiming to support "unlimited" e-mail aliases then, two months later, switch the control panel screens all around so that you can only see 250 of them. Go back a year, when they told me that I had some specific amount of storage. When I tried to use half of it, I got an error. When I FINALLY got through to an English-speaking human, they told me that the server was full. It was like saying "Yeah, we're open 24 hours, just not all in a row."

My time with Hostway is coming to an end. My site is constantly down for database errors. Technical support will not respond in a timely fashion so when the database is up and running they do not see a problem. The servers have broken links and multiple issues as they tell me and have had to move my site several times. This is an ongoing problem and chronic. I'm changing to another company.

Hostway means trouble!

What a terrible, terrible company. Apart from the fact that their servers and support suck they are also hopelessly disorganized and incapable. Months ago I ordered some services with them. They said they couldn't charge my credit card - which is used for 20-30 online transactons each month elsewhere without a single problem - and advised me to pay via Paypal which I did. I sent them all of Paypal's transaction details - not only once but about 10 times since they kept sending reminders about "non-payment". Now, after 4 months they have suddenly charged my credit card for the same amount, saying that they never received my Paypal pament which is of course nonsense - I have all proof that it was paid. And their billing support doesn't even bother to reply anymore.
STAY AWAY - under all circumstances. Hostway means trouble on all levels!
