For domain names yeah their cheap..hosting wise.. its just bad. Evenings its ok its not so slow.. in the afternoon it is just dreadful. I tested a page with no images or database access and it hit the 15 minute mark and was still loading and i finally gave up. After many complaints from my site users and emails i had enough. My site was only getting about 10-15 users a day and at peak during a specific promotion about 100. When your getting complaints from the only 3 people who used the site all day that is bad. They moved me to several different servers promising speed increases, it never happened. Databse restores failed all the time and locked up so I would need to contact support and wait up to 3 days for it to be fixed. I started backing up my databases my self in the end and restoring on my own if needed. THe database access times were also horrible.. pags would hang on database access for several minutes while waiting for a response. AM arranging a new host now and will be leaving godaddy as soon as possible.

WARNING: Don't host with Godaddy if you have a business or critical domain

I had an AWFUL experience with Godaddy. However, I will do my best to write a fair review.
If you are a beginning webmaster of a small website without many images or much need for speed, the shared hosting plan may work for you in the short run. It's certainly cheap.
But proceed with extreme caution should you have any plan to grow your website as a real business in the future or any need to securely backup the contents of your domain, especially if you plan to move to another host in the future.
I did not have any trouble with my shared hosting account on Godaddy, other than slow service at times...until I decided to migrate to a new host. Then, all hell broke loose.
First, I called them to get a full backup of my domain. Since the only way to guarantee a seemless transfer is to have a tar zip file of the entire contents, that is what I requested.
Godaddy does not offer this service with shared hosting accounts. In fact, I found out this is impossible because they stored my database and files on separate servers. (This is practice may cause performance issues, by the way.)
The customer service rep proceeded to walk me through the process of backing up the database and downloading my files through their hosting control manager. However, I couldn't even create a zip archive of all my files, since the maximum size was 20 mb.
I proceeded to transfer my database and files to the new server. It turned out that the database was corrupted due to the way Godaddy stores it on their server. When it was restored, the data was there but it was not accessible. I ended up rebuilding my entire website (with over 80 articles and multiple custom applications) from scratch.
All of this could have been prevented if Godaddy had provided me with a tar zip file containing the contents of my domain. This is a normal request for experienced webmasters, but customer service treated me like I was nuts for requesting it. "No one has ever asked for that before," one rep told me.
Yes, it is true that you receive 24 hour support. But my experience with their support was that they had only entry level experience and were trained to repeat what they were told. They are instructed to focus on the upsell and cross sell, to help you renew any expiring domains, and to get as much money out of you as possible.
I went through 3 levels of management and still could not find satisfaction. They refused to acknowledge that their way of storing my domain was a problem; if any issues arose, they insisted it could only be caused by different directory structure on the new server.
The last rep I spoke to "made an exception" for me and had the server support "do him a favor" by zipping up all my files together. He told me that I could call and ask for him by name (even though I would be told they could not connect me and even managers do not have extensions, Godaddy's policy) but that I could leave him a message. Of course, this made no difference since the database itself was corrupt and unable to be restored.
I believe that Godaddy deliberately stores data on their servers in such a way that it makes transfer to a new domain disastrous for its contents. If you move from their shared hosting to another server you WILL have problems. This is an intentional act that pressures people to stay with them or risk losing their entire domain. For many, it's simply easier to stay.
Godaddy is deceptive and misleading, despite their perky entry level support staff. Just try to navigate their purchasing menus and you'll see how easy it is to accidentally buy one of their "recommended" upsells. The confusing setup is designed to make money by offering suggested options at every level with the "No Thanks" button all but faded out.
The verdict? I strongly suggest that you DO NOT host with Godaddy. The price may be cheap, but the price I paid in sleepless nights and stress-filled days made it way too expensive.
If your website is used for a business or if you wish to protect its contents and preserve them into the future, seek hosting elsewhere with a provider who provides full cpanel backup of your domain. It may be a bit more expensive, but it will save you much pain in the long run.

goDaddy has been super reliable over the last three years. And any technical issues I have had were resolved quickly. They have a variety of customer service contact methods; including on-line issue reports that are acted on relatively immediately. goDaddy's online host interface is a breeze to opperate and offers decent web stat detail for those who whish to analyze traffic to their website. I am pleased with they're service to date and would recommend them if asked.

So far...
-Cheap to try... Expensive to do anything productive with it. (It's all about the extra--- which is everything!)
-Changes can take a long time to implement.
-The interface is not suggested for first-timers.
-Can't send confirmation details to hotmail or gmail.
The best product (everybody) doesn't win. The best marketed one (godaddy) does.

I would not recommend godaddy at all. I tried to renew a domain with them because an old credit card was expiring.
I logged into their software, and added a credit card then switched payments from one card to the other. For some reason, the software thought that I was deleting the domain. When eventually the forwarding didn't work, I called them up and they told me that I had never registered that particular domain name. I was speechless. They then looked into my account history and then told me that *I* had deleted my domain name from their register.
We eventually got everything sorted out. Or so I thought. 5 months later, when my client was complaining about not receiving any emails from their webmail account, (they have it auto forwarded to gmail) I called up godaddy again and found out why. When they accidentally deleted the domain, they also deleted the email account associated with it (even though they were billing it to me all this time) and didn't bother to mention this the first time it got deleted, or while I was fixing the domain. Again, I was speechless when they told me that I had deleted the email account 5 months ago.
Their customer service is horrible, their technical staff seems to only have a rudimentary understanding of web technologies, and the worst part is the number they ask you to call is not a 1-800 number, so you are paying long distance charges to speak to someone who may or may not be able to help you.
The good news is, their domains are one of the cheapest out there, but I still would not recommend their service to anyone. I would be OK if they raised their prices a little to buy some better customer service and support, but I guess they are too busy spending money on Danica Patrick ads.

Listen,
You don't have to agree with my opinion but I have been using godaddy for a long time for domain registration that seems to be the only thing worth investing in regard's to this companies operations. If you are a business and you value your time considering you normally have 12 hrs of UP time a day. You should only use godaddy for domain registration "THAT'S IT!" nothing more nothing less. I can promise you this company will violate your trust, respect and relationship by taking advantage of you as a business or a consumer. I have experienced them throw me into a whirlpool of destruction many times .. I have found that a large number of it's employee's are ignorant if not stupid when it comes to "being useful or helpful with problems they themselves created intentionally! don't use any of godaddy services other then domain registration or you will almost always put yourself in a closet you might not be able to get out of.

I received a refund after I made a mistake. They even called me about my mistake! That is the first company I ever seen do this. Ya I emailed them about the problem but they called by themselves to give me a refund and they said to come back later since my Domain is not old enough yet. Since they did this and made me so happy that I did not lose my 7 dollars and an extra about $7 (to transfer my domain) I decided that I owed them and I should tell the world about them! GREAT JOB!!!!!!!

I believe go daddy reviews the searches for domain names, and once a customer types it in the claim ownership only to jack up the price and try and re-sell it to you for a markup. Also, www.godaddyisascam.com is available for purchase, but they would not list it as available. Other domain name providers did.
