They are great value for money if you are hosting numerous domains and some dormant sites. But once you start getting successful, they may shut you down without any warning or any attempt to work with you to solve your CPU consumption and bandwidth issues.
Suddenly, all your sites are down. You receive an email telling you to move your content out in 10 days after which they will delete everything in your account.
When you ask them to elaborate, they'll just tell you that you're on a shared server and it's unfair for you to consume more than others. Even when you offer to compromise and remove high traffic pages, you either get ignored or treated like some beggar.
Definitely not for any webmaster serious about e-commerce.
