Had no problem with blue host and love the customer service every time I call, which is not a lot. I also love it for its low price.

Stay Away From Bluehost

Bluehost is horrible. They censor content based on their religious morals. They are anti-gay, anti-free speech, and anti-constitution. Read about it here:

I have used their services for a little less than a year. Here is my experience.
1) Hard drive status was always red and always 90-100% full. When it was full I could not upload or add any content and it took several days for techs to resolve.

2) Server load was always red and always at 15-75% or higher. My site does very little traffic and their were numerous times where it would just timeout.

3) Various problems with archiving and backups. Archives fail at around 300MB (timeout?). Backups would fail and report timeout. Attempted to back my files up for 3 days so I could move to another host, and ended up having to manually backup and download everything. Had less than 10GB of data and support claimed it was too much data for their backups or archiving to handle.

4) Support is horrible. Majority of responses are canned and not even related to my problem. They will always blame you for anything wrong that happens. My site was hacked and files were modified by a bot. They claimed it was my problem and most likely due to stored passwords when I don't even store my passwords. If you login through Bluehost.com, your password is sent through the URL in plaintext. Guaranteed numerous passwords are harvested and accounts hacked that way.

5) They host the forum bluehostforums.com, which claims to have no affiliation with or employees of Bluehost. However, they are using their branding and domain registration info is Bluehost. Any posts made about problems with Bluehost by Bluehost users are deleted and the members are banned permanently. They do not want Bluehost to have any negative light whatsoever, even if it's true.

6) They claim unlimited hosting and unlimited bandwidth, however they limit at 50,000 files and numerous people report their accounts being deleted for using too much space.

Horrible Attitude

They are great value for money if you are hosting numerous domains and some dormant sites. But once you start getting successful, they may shut you down without any warning or any attempt to work with you to solve your CPU consumption and bandwidth issues.

Suddenly, all your sites are down. You receive an email telling you to move your content out in 10 days after which they will delete everything in your account.

When you ask them to elaborate, they'll just tell you that you're on a shared server and it's unfair for you to consume more than others. Even when you offer to compromise and remove high traffic pages, you either get ignored or treated like some beggar.

Definitely not for any webmaster serious about e-commerce.

I've been with BlueHost.com for over 2 years and would recommend them for personal websites. I've been very happy with the combination of BlueHost.com for my personal websites and the hosting company WebRudder.com for my business/professional websites. I would recommend this combination to anyone! BlueHost.com is great for all the features that I like to play with as a developer, and WebRudder.com has the solid basics with rock solid up time, and lightening fast page loads that impresses my clients.

I've been hosting with Bluehost for close to five years now and after years of being the "customer" of other hosting companies, I've found one that actually lives up to the hype.

I've hosted elsewhere, and there have been some decent experiences. Bluehost has been beyond decent. Bluehost has been reliable, equitable, and service-oriented.

A great host for small websites. I host my family site and couple of my clients websites.

Tech support is friendly and respond quick to my inquiries, I had a few over the years.

So I definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a cheap place to host several websites in a single account

It seems that the server we are hosted on is down for "maintenance" almost eveyday in the morning for between 15 minutes to one hour. We can not afford this anymore.

After experiences with three other hosting companies I found Bluehost. They have 24/7 PHONE tech support (which I have not needed). The control panel page is better than others that I have encountered. Customer communication regarding upgrades come often. I'm in my third year with them and have placed three sites with them and plan to move another site there soon. Pricing is good especially if you pay a year or two in advance.

Bait-and-switch

BH looks good on paper, but one soon realizes everything costs extra. My site is a very simple low CPU minimalist on, yet CPU exceed errors pop up a lot. Cost to make them go away? $40 a month!! And why? Because someone else sharing is using more than I am. Hardly seems fair.

Ditto their so-called "spam assasin". Their spam control was ok at first but as soon as their paid version came out, the floodgates opened up. And the black mail started - pay then $4/mo or get an inbox filled with junk:-(

Caveat Emptor. Their live chat is ridiculously useless. Good luck wating to hear back on a ticket, and the support database is beyond worthless!

I'm currently seeking an alternative, and will move as soon as possible.

So far so good. I wanted to mention that although somewhere on bhr it says that you can have multiple cPanels for addon domains--this is not possible with BlueHost.
