Misleading Advertising and Worst Possible Customer Service

I signed up for a 3 months "free trial" of MailXchange only to find out that 1&1 would also charge me a "Service Set-up Fee" of 4.99 which was not made clear during the ordering process.
When I rang up to query this charge I was told that my account would be cancelled and that I would not be charged. However, without giving me a chance to clarify this issue I had their agent put the phone down on me. This was after hours of trying to get through to them in the first place and then being asked to reveal my full password over the phone!! - A most questionable security hole in their processes.
Last but not least MailXchange turned out to be an incredibly poor and clunky wannabe MS Exchange service that is a pain to install.
All in all an utterly disgraceful experience! I urge you to stay well clear of 1&1.
Someone from Trading Standards should take a close look at 1&1's advertising and selling strategies!!
