I agree with the previous revocation. If 1and1 could not withdraw money - you find out about it too late. Revert site will be very difficult. I have not been able to pay for hosting the second time. The first payment is passed, but after 6 months - no. The account is blocked, there is no clear answer. Here is a recent letter, which came 10 days ago, after no reply:

Согласен с предыдущим отзывом. Если 1and1 не может снять деньги - вы об этом узнаете слишком позно. Вернуть сайт будет очень сложно. Мне пока не удалось оплатить хостинг второй раз. Первая проплата прошла, а через 6 месяцев - нет. Учетная запись заблокирована, внятного ответа нет. Вот последнее письмо, которое пришло 10 дней назад, после него ответов нет:

We regret to inform you that your account has been irreversibly
terminated, due to a violation of our Terms and Conditions (in excessive
nonpayment). As a result, your data has been deleted & your domain(s)
set to expire. Unfortunately, you will not be able to receive services
from us again.

This company is trouble. Look else where. All they want to do is pad their poacket and screw the customer. Will NEVER do business with them again. If you have a credit card that is expired or had to be canceled for any reason they will send you to collections, and charge rediculous fees. They will not even notify you of a problem. I paid the !@#$ fees just to leave to go to another company and they will not release my domain. I have called to get this resolved and they said i paid but there is nothing they can do and hung up on me. 1and1 could use a lesson in ethics and customer service.This company is trouble.

Not sure what all those complaints are about. After going through a bunch of bad web hosters (GoDaddy, TekTonic, DailyRazor, Magicalworks) this is definitely a company to stick with.

Great uptime/no technical problems.

Well, they seemed pretty good until something went wrong and suddenly my site lost a few images. Seemed like no big deal to fix, but the page app is really lame. OK, I'll call tech support. They answer real quick. But they terminate your call after 3-4 minutes, in the middle of the conversation!!! And of course, even though they have a record of all the previous calls you've made, it always takes at least 3-4 minutes just to get the techsupport agent to understand what your issue is. Want to know what the lowest ring of hell is like? Just try and get a problem resolved with 1&1!!!

While the server stays up, there must be some problems with their web server software configuration...leading to lots of downtime where the server doesn't accept connections to the sites. Getting them to admit (a) that there was any problem, and (b) explaining what happened is like pulling teeth. It also seems like nearly every feature I try is broken when I use it, leading to a sequence of e-mails in which their representatives either say that the feature is temporarily down, claim its working when it isn't, or say they'll look into it (and never come back with an answer). I will be leaving them soon.

They've gotten better is about the best thing I can say. Tech support is offered by people in PI and other 3rd world countries. Most of them are not qualified to do tech work, I've had many hang up and tell me really stupid excuses. It's all about the bottom dollar on the cheap. My biggest nightmare was a mailing list which had already been used for years before I went 1and1.
They sent me stop spaming people threats for a BBS where people sign up on their own and told me I was getting too many spam complaints and they threatened to shut me down. I told the it was a BBS and people sign up on their own and must respond to an email to sign up, this verifies their email address. They did not care. Also the billing is flawed, they do recurring billing and don't let you know BEFORE they rebill as so you can make a change if needed. When I have a chance I will switch.

Initially, I was drawn in by the pricing and speed of 1and1, but I have a few words of warning for all potential customers.

Price is not everything. The ease of setup is quite good and the packages reasonably well designed especially for a beginner.

But, GOD forbid you have any problems. You will be locked out of your account, kept on hold when trying to call them for at least 10 minutes. When you do speak to someone you need a damn translator to understand them. No one can make a decision and replies to emails may as well say "f*ck you*.

This is the last straw for me. I will be transferring from them. I have asked them in the past on details for this and never got a response. Well this is the last straw as it were.

To all small business out there like us, DO NOT use them. If you pride yourselves on Customer Service these jokers could seriously affect you, your clients and your bottom line.

Pay a little more and get the service. After all, if you had kids, you wouldnt leave them in the hands of the cheapest child minder...you would want the best one. The same applies here, if it's for your small business...find someone other than 1and1. They are truly cowboys of the internet age.

Don't use them for Moodle if you value your time or money. I tried for a 5 hour period to get help with the backup of a course. A bunch of ducks and gatekeepers with no interest in helping and no knowledge of the application made my life miserable. It was a server 500 error and the explainations I got ranged all over the place. I was told that supervisors were too busy to talk with me and that I could not talk directly to the technical staff that they agreed I needed to fix the problem. By the way I've been waiting for six hours for them to provide me a backup of my four courses because they thing that I as the administrator of the site should not have that ability. Two weeks ago I could do it. But then they don't know the difference between an SQL system backup and a Moodle course backup. And they didn't want to learn.

As if the other reviews on the site state that 1and1 does indeed suck, here is my review. They still do. Signed up with them in July 2007, canceled in early September due to the downtime of my site. They fought with me over the 90 day money back guarantee. Got $4.51 back after paying $29.99. What happened to the other 25 or so bucks? No response after 18 days and many emails to billing department. Waited an hour on hold to billing department, no response. Finally got back to me, said they credited me the rest of the money. Two weeks later, still wont respond and no money has been credited. This company is full of false hopes and is a bunch of liars and crooks. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY, you will regret it.

If you want to make the BIGGEST mistake of your life, sign up to 1and1. DO NOT GO NEAR 1AND1. This has to be the worst company on the planet. Their products and services sound too good to be true - because that are too good to be true.

This company is built of robbing clients. Poor server uptime, non-existant support. If you call their "24 hour" support, you will be put through to a call centre in the Phillipines where a computer illeterate poorly trained individual will read you answers off their FAQ. If you ask a question that is too hard for them, they will hang up on you, or re-read an irrelevant answer off their FAQ.

They will charge your credit card imaginary amounts and it takes hours on the phone to have these false charges removed.

If you then try to transfer away from them, they will hold your domains hostage, and make it impossible.

1and1 are COMPLETELY useless. Useless customer support, useless billing department, unethical games and tricks to charge you more again and again.

If there is one decision I could ever go back and change, it would be to go back to the day I signed up with 1and1, and simply jump off a clif instead. That would have been less painful in hindsight.
