this co mpany is the sirst online i have use with my many sites many company and all better then this company 1000000 tims there Customer service in philpine thay know nathing and there Technical services in usa and thay dont talk to no one so you have to explan to samone in philpin dont know nathing and thay remove y site 3 times back after 1 moth fiding on the phone evryday thay dont help at all.

dont ever do this and houst with company like that.

thats why thay are the chiper company online and thay funny think is i did pay like $30 the guy how i clkcick his link to buy my plan there he got from them $30 so thay pay from there bacit to get Customer.

This is going on for several hours now. I can't reach the site and more worse I can't even continue working on it. No FTP Access. No Online Web Builder Tool access. It is saturday and this is the only time in a week that I can work on it. And I can't even get the Support People to tell me if it is only me or a lot bigger issue.
Does anyone has similar issues today.

Don't know if I will continue if that will happen more often.

When it come to cancellation, 1and1 won't do it, even I send a request and said that I follow their direction to cancel one of the service, but I still got billing. I refuse to pay for the service I'd like to cancel. 1and1 shut down all my service, including the one I already pay and still under contract for a few more months... I ask them how about just shut down the one that I like to cancel instead since I don't want service. They refuse to do it and kept shutting down all services I have.

THANK GOD I'm not the only one. Sorry. These people make you want to...Never mind.

Listen, I can't say it much better than the reviews I read above but I can tell you that you get what you pay for with 1and1. I guess that's what "1and1" means.

I have had nothing but problems with this company. I know there is a language barrier because sometimes they answer my question and I'm like "What?". One time I had a complaint and the rude lady had the nerve to pull the old "Hello, Hello,..." and hung up on me. And don't even think about keeping track of who you talk to. I think they have a list of American names that they pick from each time the phone rings. Michael, yeah right!

My site is currently down right now and I'm searching for a new company. The first thing I want to know is, "Do you outsource your tech support?" I WILL NEVER DEAL WITH ANOTHER COMANY THAT DOES!

I have many problems with them but this last one takes the cake. Somehow my site mysteriously lost my members' information from my database and off course it was not their fault.

I put in tickets to use their so called emergency back up and each time/date that I requested was empty. Bottom line, this company is nothing but trouble. Please keep me up to date on any lawsuit against them. I have a lot to offer.

As for the positive review I read above, either that is "Michael", or that person is in for a rude awakening. Good luck!

Yes, 1 and 1 Internet is the worst hosting company on the web. As an investigative reporter, I have garnered a ton of information about them and their horrendous business practices. In fact, they are once again being investigated by the Better Business Bureau, and now the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office as well as many news and consumer organizations.

My experience is just the same as most of yours, and additionally, they sold one of my paid domain names and then charged me for it! They not only breached their own contract, but have shown gross negligence in correcting the problems. The media is closely following the lawsuit filed against them, and I know of at least two, other class action lawsuits being prepared. Since they won't do the right thing and conduct business ethically, the courts will make sure they right their wrongs where it counts...in the pocket.

Pricing on 1and1.co.uk is quite good but I cannot begin to tell you how many problems I have had with the CUSTOMER SUPPORT. They are based in the Philipines and that would be fine except that

- they don't understand English very well and so have trouble understanding you and expressing themselves
- they read scripted answers and cannot function if you ask them anything complicated
- they stammer and use unnecessesarily long phrases that sound polite to them but are a waste of time for a busy customer who is frustrated and needs a quick solution instead of fluff

It's terrible! This may sound petty but when your business depends on it, it really matters! To top it all off, one of their staff members was very rude to me yesterday. When I asked if if he was sure about something he was telling me, he said, "I have been working here for 2 years so don't tell me what to do." - all because I asked him if he is sure my webspace isn't 100gb instead of 8gb! When I asked to speak to supervisor he insisted on knowing what my nationality was! Reidiculous. I am this close to taking my business elsewhere.

Currently being investigated by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office after complaints, as well as the Better Business Bureau where they have an "Unsatisfactory" record. Personally, they sold a domain name to us after we'd paid for it for a year, and then overcharged us. We are pursuing legally, and as an investigative journalist, have had lots of interest and coverage already.

However, it applies to their business practices, customer service and tech support...

1&1 is a dream come true up to the moment you have to deal with them. FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING.
EVERY SINGLE CALL I have made to them has been a nightmare of rudeness, incompetence and downright negligence.

I have spent over ten hours on the phone with 1and1 within the last week, I have a regular tech that has fixed this for me before and this time he has assured me that the error is on 1and1's system. I have chosen to call them myself instead of paying for a tech to sit on hold. And I am now switching another company. BY FAR THE WORST customer service I have ever had.

This is a warning to anyone considering using 1and1 for dedicated server hosting.

We signed up for two servers with 1and1 , and we were working on the assumption that 1and1 support is almost non existant (Which is very true).

We are Microsoft Gold Partners , and have extensive OS and hardware experience.

I signed up on the basis we would not need 1and1 support for anything other than a physical hardware fault.

When we had a physical hardware fault it took 1and1 3 days ! to replace a stick of memory.

When the server came back the OS had somehow been corrupted.

The 1and1 windows recovery system didnt work (1and1 suggested we use a linux emergency recovery) , but as we have no linux experience this was about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

The Serial console access , also didn't allow us to press f8 for DS restore mode or safe mode (from which we could have recovered the OS).
(essentially rendering the serial console access useless).


So all the "safety features" 1and1 offered didnt work correctly , essentially leaving us with one option and that was to do a clean install of the OS , (Which fortunately does work from 1and1 control panel).

we now have a day or so's work to recover the server just because the 1and1 service is so bad. so all in all 3 days + downtime for our customers.

My complaint to 1and1 customer support was never answered (2 months+)
There is no online ticket system to track issues.
If you leave an issue with 1and1 support they will not resolve the problem.
If you call regularily to get problems resolved you might as well be speaking with a monkey , as you would get a similar response.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS , YES THEY ARE CHEAP BUT you will pay for it in customer dissatisfaction (Unless this server is going to be used for something completely non critical - ie you can wait up to 1 week for it to be fixed , and you have the time to rebuild the server whenever there is an OS issue.

(I did research before signing up , and thought that due to our technical skills and experience we could ignore the support issues with 1and1 but this was not the case as there are times when hands on server access is needed (especially when most of the 1and1 tools offered for server recovery do not work).

You have been warned.
