Look, i have a short temper, and little to no patients.. but uhh.. you know what , i have had probs with the service, and they fixed it, they came through , and they helped me out, I dont know how id be able to get the jobs i have in the past without these guys offering such an affordable deal .. no i havent been paid to say anything by anyone, i stumbled upon this bashfest on accident.. but uhh.. someones got to be at least fair enough to state the good along with the bad , unliminited traffic?! thats very sweet.. i have an easier time talking to webcount. than amazon ebay or paypal customer service, they dont lose their composure when the customer does, at least they didnt when i did. and i appreciate that , i appreciate someone who would charge so little when they dont have to and keep it going to for such a long time , i mean, i seen a billboard for the service when i was like 16 , ten years ago. and i havent found any other service id rather switch to , so , im not kissing any ass on either side, i just wanted to let everyone who reads these threads to know that .. just pay your bills, and keep in mind they arent huge like go-daddy, it could be like 6 guys running the whole show.. how ever many i know it couldnt be that much and if you are clear and direct and respectful, they will help you. and they will even call you when you dont have any long-distance on your line because the instability of the economy has affected your ability to make enough for something like that at the time. thats love man, 1dollarhosting.com , ill stick with them , ive got nothing but content with their company.

Anyone who has had problems should find out his home address and then figure out how much money he has cost them and submit it to a collection agency for not fulfilling his obligation of services and see how he likes dealing with all of the negative reports he gets on his credit report.......If he has not provided the service that his company states the provide you can charge him back for services that were not rendered in the original agreement.

I had a domain registered through them in 2000. My domain was hijacked and held hostage... but the story is the same; when I asked to switch domain companies, they all of a sudden lost my credit card payment info, sent me to creditors after I paid them a fee just to leave me alone. I waited a year to get my URL back, and they said if I paid them US$10,000 they woud give it back.
I guess the only way to get the guy is to keep posting on the web and trash his rep... and sign his email up to a bunch of porn sites... :-)

I too have been a victim for approximately 10 years with a number of my sites. I too have been charged for services I did not sign up for, billed for sites and services I did not control or request. Over the years I've managed to wrestle away most of my sites or just give them up. There is still one site that Phil controls through enom.com and I refuse to pay his extortion one more year.
I've contacted the

ICANN
The Los Angeles District Attorney's Office
The Secret Service Electronic Crimes Task Force.
The Internet Crimes Complaint Center
The Los Angeles Mayor's office
The District of Tarzana
The Tarzana Chamber of Commerce
as well as other elected officials who's districts serve the location of the post office box which is listed as his business office
The problem is that no one seems to believe that this is their jurisdiction and Phil's petty actions fall through the legal cracks. Phil Shapiro seems to be well aware of this which can only explain how he has been able to get away with these practices for almost 15 years now.
Only with a concerted effort can these fraudulent practices be stopped.

Then visit www.webcountry.us and sent an email, a letter and a fax or two briefly outlining your ordeal to the elected officials in whose district Phil claims to do his business. Finally, check back to www.webcountry.us to keep up on this efforts progress on how the victims of Phil Shapiro's "business practices" can collectively bring a resolution to this matter and to protect any future victims from being taken advantage of in the future.

To All That Have Suffered From 1DollarHosting.com's Unethical Business Practices,
I myself recently became the newest victim of this company. Different from most of you is that they put me through to collections and reported me to the credit bureau before they even sent me any notification. I was not aware of any alleged open balance that they claim was due 5 years ago. My first notice ever was on August 14, 2009. When I responded I did not what they were talking about, I received no replies. A few days later, I received the same notification email. I replied to that as well and again, no response. Last week, I checked my credit score to ensure that it is updated and discovered that they reported me back in July 2009. 5 years of debt and no collection attempt, but all of a sudden, I am notified AFTER I am reported? The total charge was for 2 years of hosting fees totaling $24, a late charge of $25, a $150 collections fee and of course, interests... It came out to $253.
When attempting to resolve this in a civil matter, Taylor initially didn't even know what domain name the charges were for. When speaking to the supervisor, he stated this and I paraphrase: "People make mistakes. Let's get passed that. I just want to know if you will pay or not pay. If you won't pay, I don't want to talk to you. I don't care about what happened. If you want to talk, talk to someone else and waste your time with them. It is either you pay or this stays on your record with the credit bureau." Then he hung up on me.
I don't know about the rest of the victims, but just complaining online is not going to help change any of this for new and old users. I don't know if this has been attempted, but I suggest attempting to file a class action law suit against them. If anyone would like to be included, please leave a comment. Thereafter, I will create a private sign up form. Any idea submitted now will be helpful as well.

Do not give them your business - you will be sorry!
Basically the 1 dollar hosting? You get what you pay for. Cheap quality. NO customer service or website support.
This company and Phil are incompetent and unprofessional. They have no infrastructure for notifying you when your website hosting is about to expire. Unlike other hosting companies that not only send you an advance renewal notice and have the option for automatic renewal services. Phil at webcountry seems like a guy running his business out of his living room. It seemed to me after 3 years that he is making his business float on late fees and expired domains. So the deal is - your website gets shut down (read: held ransom) until you call this guy on the phone and pay the exorbitant late fees. Believe me, that 1 dollar quickly turns out to not be such a great bargain, when you take into account how much of your time and money you will spend trying to get this guy to do his job.
I switched to ReadyHosting and after having a full service hosting company that is professional and proactive, I realize that companies like 1dollarhosting take advantage of naive suckers - they should be put out of business for running a scam.

I've been trying to cancel my account with webcountry (formerly onedollarhosting.com) for 3 years now. I cancelled it after I sold my domain and haven't used it or tried to ever since. I finally received a letter from the CEO Philip Shapiro stating that I have a past due balance and that I cannot cancel until it is paid. Incredible! It was paid in full at the time of cancellation (the first of three times in as many years). He informed me that he would pass my account onto his collection agency. Please don't do business with this man or any of the companies he has established. I would gladly align myself with anyone threatening legal action!

1dollar-hosting.com shut me down and close my account when I complained they are not responding and doing any good support.
They are not releasing my domain and my site is down and it is my living.
Keep in mind that I have prepaid with them for a year. No company in the USA would dare to do that...
only in Russia!
They told me take you business else were for asking them for help with a domain transfer that they have got wrong.
No one should shut your business and lock your domain when you prepaid. Now they are making up stories to ICAAN to support the locking of the domain, and the problem is they do not have to show proof and I do not have the resources to go after the corrupt Russians!
Do not trust Russian businesses who have sites in English... you are on your own if they decide to shut you down!
This is bad business, stay away. Cheap or not, it is your business that they can shutdown if they wish after taking your money, and the US laws will not protect you

I wish I had found this page before signing on with this place. I am working on switching now. My access to email is constantly intermittent, and there is no live support, you submit a helpdesk ticket and pray.
When my email was completely down for most of a business day with no delivery failure notifications to even let people know, I pressed for a reason and assurance that it would not happen again. The response?
"The mail queue was quite large due to spam.
It can be prevented in the future if spammers stop sending out spam."
Whatever, I am so sorry they got *any* of my money.
