ReadyHosting : ReadyHosting Reviews : Domain Name expired
Feb 10, 2010 by Grey Days ()
Webhost can reply
to this review here When I signed with Ready Hosting they stated they will pay the domain re-registration fee as long as I was hosted by them. Now I received an email stating my domain name expired and I need to pay tucows $160.00 to re-instate the domain and additional fee for the registration. What authority can be contacted to go after Ready Hosting? I still have the origional contract sent to me regarding the terms of the contract.

Comment: Hello,
Thank you for contacting us.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I have noticed that your domains ‘greatermulwood.org’ has expired since December 20, 2009 and is now in redemption period with the domain registrar ToCows. Hence, you are unable to access the website. If you wish to renew the domain then you must pay a fee to remove the domain from Redemption, as well as one year of domain renewal. The redemption fee for ‘TuCows’ is $160.00. Please note that this does not include the renewal fee, and it will take 4-9 days to remove the domain from Redemption Status.
If you do not wish to pay the Redemption Period fee you will have to wait 30-45 days for the Redemption Period to end. After the period is over there is a brief 5-7 days where the domain name is Pending Deletion, which will then release the domain for normal registration. While this is more cost effective, bear in mind this will allow others to register your domain. Please confirm us whether you wish to pay $160.00 as well one year of domain renewal fee.
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Gladis Stone

Comment: Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
On our platform, domain renewal and account renewal are two different processes. The domain 'greatermulwood.org ' is associated with the account 'mulwood'. Our records show that your account is paid and up-to-date and next billing date is on December 19, 2010. I performed the Whois search for the domain and noticed that it has expired on December 20, 2009 and now it is in Redemption Period. If you wish to renew the domain now, you need to pay a fee to remove the domain from Redemption, as well as one year of domain renewal. The redemption fee for ‘TuCows’ is $160.00. Please note that this does not include the renewal fee, and it will take 4-9 days to remove the domain from Redemption Status. Please confirm us whether you wish to pay $160.00 as well one year of domain renewal fee.
While I was reviewing your account, I have noticed that you have not yet set the Security Question for your account. To set the 'Security Question' for your account, please follow the steps given below:
1) Log into the control panel with your account username and password.
2) Click on the link 'Set Security Question' under 'Account Information' section.
3) Click on the radio button 'New Profile'.
4) Enter the First Name, Last Name, and set the Security Question and the Security Answer.

Customer Quote: When I purchased the Domain through Ready Hosting the understanding was that Ready Hosting would be paying for the Domain Renewal for as long as I hosted it with Ready Hosting, If you were changing your policy you should have informed me of the change and the additional fee to reflect the cover change, this situation could have been avoided causing the additional costs. If you are unwilling to stand behind your original agreement I will be moving all of my Domains to a different provider.

Free Domain Name Registration - You heard it right! We're going to pay your domain name registration fees as long as you're a customer of Ready Hosting, Inc. You're probably saying, "What's the Catch?".
Here's the catch:
a. The domain must not be registered anywhere. It MUST be a new domain registration.
b. The domain has to be a .com, .net, or .org domain.
c. You don't have to pay the $35/year fee. We pay the fee for you, as long as the domain name is hosted on our servers and your balance is current..
d. You own the domain name.
You're now saying, "How can you do that?" Due to the large number of registrations we process, we have partnered with a major Registrar to offer you this un-heard of deal.
All transactions are recorded with your IP address/date/time. If you plan on using a fraudulent credit card, we will prosecute.
All setup fees are non-refundable.

Comment: Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
We do provide free one year Annual Domain Registration with the hosting account. You can register the domain using that Annual Domain Registration. However, you need to pay for the renewal of the domain name. Since the redemption fee of $160.00 is imposed by the registrar, we cannot waive the redemption fees. Also, we cannot renew the domain name without charging the redemption fees. Could you please confirm us whether you wish to pay $160.00 with one year of domain renewal fee.
If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console.

The Redemption Period has ended, So technically I need only pay $20.00 and everybody's happy correct? And the site goes back online. So go ahead and charge my credit card and get the site back up.

Comment: Hello,
I am writing in regards to your ticket # 6726476. We thank you for your patience during this delay.
We have stared the redemption retrieval for domain greatermulwood.org at our expense. This will take 3-7 business days to complete the retrieval process. I have noticed that domain was not renewed because it was on DomainGuard incorrectly. Now we no longer support DomainGaurd service on our platform and we redeemed the domain at our expense because of this. However going forward, you will need to pay for the domain renewal separately.
If you have any further questions, please update the Support Console. We are available 24x7.
