The limits on SQL db's are annoying--you get only one with the basic plan. They claim they can host Joomla or Drupal, but just try doing SEF url's and you quickly run into huge issues with their shared server configurations. It's aggravating trying to get credit for downtime, too. There's no IMAP support for emails. Lately, the host servers time out a lot. My sites frequently become inaccessible, and that's really the last straw.
When all I needed was a simple FrontPage site, they were great, and their upper tier support was very helpful. Now that business has grown, though, they can't seem to scale up with us. I'd tough it out with them if their uptime was better or you didn't have to call Canada on a toll call for tech support, but it's begun to be a huge pain in the butt to deal with this company. We won't renew.

I don't know why some people are writing bad reviews about it.
I used it for a long time, and it is one of the best that I have tried.

I'm writing this review because my site is again inaccessible, as it is so often. Netfirms provided good service when I first hosted with them, but the last few months have been excruciatingly bad. My site is often down. Their customer support has been utterly useless. If they reply at all, it's with a few standard form letters. They never actually solve my problem. Most of my service requests don't even get a reply. I'm writing anonymously because I don't want them screwing with my site while I move to a new host. Use this host if you like extreme frustration.

Best way to lose a customer is have a link timeout. A customer would almost never try your site again if he thinks your site is down.
This is what happens when I had netfirms host my site. almost 50% of the time, I cannot get to my website. You can't run a web business if you have this type of hosting. I was using php, mysql and joomla.

This used to be a great host. However, the past few months have seen quite a few problems. They are no longer as reliable as they used to be. I am disappointed, and am thinking of moving on.

Netfirms suck soo bad, I was with Hostgator and seriously Regret moving to Netfirms, I thought it would be good to put my domains under the same company hosting them. But Netfirms are just useless,their server is extremly slow, cpanel useless, they dont even have Stats on their $9.95 a month service, they expect the customer to download and install stats and edit complicated files, and their cutomer service just Sucks Bad. Why do you think they were giving away a years hosting for $10, because they suck badly thats why.

I have 3 sites hosted by Netfirms that are constantly down. When they are up performance is extremely slow. Calling support is useless, after 30 minutes on hold they send you to a voice mail box and no-one has ever returned my calls.
E-mailing their customer service will sometimes get you a response after 3 or 4 days (after 3 or 4 e-mails), sometimes after 7. The most frustrating thing about waiting for a response is that they usually just forward you a page from their help files and never address your issue. If they send me instructions on how to clear my browser cache one more time...
While their pricing plans are pretty good, I have to give them a low rating here also becuase it really doesn't matter how little you pay if your sites are down every 2 or 3 days.
Needless to say all of my sites are down as I write this, which is why I have the time to spend writing bad reviews of a really bad hosting company.
I am currently in the process of migrating my sites to another host and hope to never hear the name Netfirms again.

I signed up with Netfirms under the coupon code "max" which gives you their Advantage plan for 1 year, plus 2 domains for only $10. I nearly crapped when I saw that, but, hold on. The domains themselves were worth the price, so I figured I MUST get it. After the first week under Netfirms, I understand why they gave such a value.
It took an average of three days to get an e-mail from them for support. And, above that, it's slow as hell! It takes 2-3 seconds just for the page to begin to load. Some may be like "eh, three seconds, whoop-dee-doo." Well, that three seconds can turn away users not wanting to visit your site. Unless you had what I absolutely needed, I wouldn't wait for such a site.
After me yearly plan ends, I am never going to subscribe with them again. It was cheap, but poor hosting.

They restored it but then that erased the new data entered while I was waiting for them. The server is slow too. Customer service is bad. Don't use them, I'm looking for another host.

Three days ago I lost 600 customers information that were on my database due to a problem with netfirms.com server. Most of the time the server is down and you can't send emails...To make the matter worst I was told that my database will be restored and I will be able to recover all of the information...I am still waiting for the past four days now and nothing has been done. When you want to call a customer service representative you will be on hold for over 30min most of the time. My advise to you, don't choose this company for your hosting need.
