I moved to IX Web Hosting a bit less than a year ago. I didn't do my research properly as I only looked into 1 site which had some good reviews about this company. What a mistake!
Their technical knowledge is not only near to nonexistent, but they are also quite rude. It takes days for a ticket to be looked at and weeks to find a solution! My email has not been working since 11th of August and it is still not working! It took 5 days to convince them that there was something wrong with their server (or setup of it) and there was nothing wrong at my end! As a rule, whatever the problem is, at first, it has to be the customer's fault. No matter what the problem is, it's always the customer who probably does not have a clue of what they are doing!! It's only after nagging and screaming that they will decide to look at their side!! If you need to use the Live Chat, it may take 50 minutes to get to talk to someone. And then, 99% of the time, you've waited for nothing because the person has very limited technical knowledge and can't help. What's worse, is that they think they can and it's only after many arguments and wasted time that they will tell you to log a ticket.
Their up-time is very poor and the site is very slow.
Unfortunately, I don't have many good things to say about IX web hosting. I like their control panel though.
I'm looking for another host but doing my homework this time!!

I had been a customer of IX Web Hosting for over 4 years. I have watched their service and support deteriorate significantly especially the past year. My web sites were routinely down and IX Web Hosting missed their guaranteed up-time metrics nearly every month. When I complained they would credit my account for an additional month. Finally after my sites were down for 10 consecutive days I decided a change was in order. I moved my sites and canceled my IX Web Hosting account. Rather than getting the money back I was told I would get a fraction of the refund I was owed. The customer service and billing department argued that the credits I received for them missing their stated guarantee were basically worthless from a monetary standpoint and that they continued to incur charges. Not only did I have to endure countless outages and deal with incompetent technical support leading to additional downtime and outages but I would pay for this "privilege" receiving a minimum refund. I've opened a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about their business tactics and I recommend to everyone to say as far away from IX Web Hosting as possible. If you already have an account there I suggest getting out while you can before you find your sites and your money drained.

I chose IX because it was cheap.
as long as the site is up it's ok but once it goes down, god help us. like others have mentioned neither so they have an idea what the issue is nor do they have an ETA.

i wouldn't recommend IX at this point as i'm looking for a different provider

They advertise everything you want to see as far as allowed space on the server, database size, on and on and on...plus the prices are cheap. Don't be fooled by all of this. Their service is an absolute joke. We've been a customer with their top level windows plan for the past 2 months. The site has gone down at least once a week and has been down repeatedly in the past couple weeks for hours at a time due to a lack of database resources. Our site honestly feels like it's been down more than it's been up over the past week. If you host here, you better get used to being caller number 30 on hold for customer support when your site is down. The 24/7 chat support is obviously outsourced and often worthless. To top if off, they did nothing to compensate at all when I requested it, claiming they hadn't bypassed their allotted down time for the year yet (which I don't believe at all). Do yourself a favor and find a better hosting company. Trust me, you do not want to host here. I'm already in the process of doing so.

SUCKS!!! there IP address black listed by most black lists. Have trouble e-mailing because of this. Having trouble sending e-mail with more than 24 addresses.One of there tech support people told me he was quitting because the co. is going down. I get hundreds of spam a day. for months they keep telling me that will change. and it hasn't.

For years, I was a BIG IX supporter. Great service, great uptime, great value. As far as my webhosting is concerned, that part is still good. Their big problem is their mail servers. I manage a non-profit youth baseball website with email lists and they get spammed constantly. So, that's life you say? But now, Comcast, ATT, and even Yahoo are blacklisting the IX servers. Three servers later, still being blocked and the tech support is horrible. Canned messages with a very rare "concerned" reply once in a while with still no results. I have given up and I am looking carefully for a new host. Stay away, they are getting worse every day.

they had e-mail server problems so if you host your business site, IX is not the one to choose, they were down for 16 hrs on 2/22/08 and then they delete all my business mails

IX Webhosting has a problem with email. At times my email is delayed by as much as eight hours. When I contact support, the answer is that they have had a "small problem" with the email. The response to any trouble ticket can take upwards of 24 hours. Accessing the control panel or webmail sometimes takes several minutes for each screen that you want to see.

The use email servers without DNS record so most ISPs will block mail coming from sites hosted by them.

I spoke to support and they didn't even know what IPs they own or what DNS is used for. Online support is based out the the Ukraine.

On a very frequent basis, I have been unable to access my site. Or the access has been very, very slow. The folks at IX respond quickly, but they don't tell me what's going on, nor do they really fix the problem. I don't recommend IX.
