iPowerWeb : iPowerWeb Reviews : Absolutely Avoid

When I signed up with them over 6 years ago, they were far from the abysmal mess they are now. In about 2006 their customer service fell off a cliff. (Another reviewer blamed it on the merger with Endurance International, but it was bad before that. Maybe the merger was them trying to dig themselves out of the pile of **** they were in?)

They couldn't do anything right, even like just registering a domain. Should have happened automatically but took over a week and 3 phone calls. That was my first bad experience with them in Sept 2006, but because of my previous experience with them I was willing to cut them some slack. It never got better.

In 2007 they introduced their "new platform" which was another total disaster. Essentially it was a server consolidation. However that meant that many account id's, which previously needed to be unique only on the particular shared host, now had to be unique company wide. So lots had to be changed, including a couple of mine. They just disappeared. One they were able to find and restore my site (took over a week), the other was never seen again. (One time I was on hold over 4 hours.) That is when I started moving stuff to a different host. (I have been very satisfied with Net Firms. They have their quirks, and their administration is a bit slow, but overall it works well.)

I now have all of my domains (about 30) elsewhere except 1, and it will be moving soon. Fortunately my credit card was stolen a while ago (that was a dream to clear up compared to dealing with iPowerWeb) so they don't have a valid card number for me and *CAN'T* bill me anything more. They want to, keep sending me emails that accounts are expired and payments were declined, but I have the upper hand here.

The reason it has taken me so long to switch is that accounts that were operating OK mostly stay operating OK. It is just when you need something changed (other than page updates) that things will get screwed up.

No matter what your needs are, do not go with iPowerWeb (or iPower, same company).
