E-mail goes down frequently.. and when it does, sometime's we lose messages. Tech support is nice to me, but nobody really cares. She told me if i was worried about losing e-mails, i should get a second mail server... So basically, you want me to pay for your mistakes?
My e-mail has been down all day today and who knows what I lost. Business relies so heavily on e-mail for communication. Don't expect to succeed on ipower's terrible hosting.
Bottom line: Ipower is just simply not dependable.

When I first started working for the company utilizing the services of IPowerWeb they had been hosted on IPowerWeb’s Linux servers. Very few issues occurred.
After we developed a few web applications we moved the website to IPowerWeb’s Windows IIS servers. The transition itself was practically impossible with inexperienced tech support.
Now every few months our directory settings for IIS are reset and the .Net version is reverted back to 1.1.4 from 2.0. On my own Intranet this simply takes about 1 minute to change the .Net version to 2.0 in IIS. This takes IPowerWeb over a week to accomplish. Initially, their tech support acts like the situation will be taken care of and you hang-up feeling satisfied. Another 2days pass without a change and when you call they will tell you their windows administrators will not be in until later and the issue will be resolved then. Calling back after another day or two prompts them to tell you the issue has been promoted to level 3 (highest level…lol) and they can no longer do anything, which means I need to just wait.
This is the second time this issue has occurred within a 3 month time period. A week without a customer used web app is appalling to say the least. Avoid this host if you want a windows based web platform.

I have three of my own sites and several clients' sites on iPowerWeb. Most of this stuff is pretty straightforward, with PHP scripts providing certain header/footer functionality, etc. Some of the more complex stuff involves MySQL/PHP interaction. One site uses the native phpBB for a discussion forum. Nothing too radical.
The vast quantities of spam I get through their servers is incredible, even after I use nearly every spam killer in the world. When I tried to get an answer on whether other customers had reported a sudden surge in spam I got the runaround. They never told me one way or the other.
The phpBB forum on one site was getting blasted by 'bot entries, so I slicked it using phpMyAdmin and turned on administrator approval for all new memberships. No go. Two days after fixing up the user list it was filled with crap again. Huh?!? Server side malf, no other way.
The email seems to go up and down in the middle of the day for no apparent reason. A couple of my low-volume sites do the same thing. I wonder if they are playing with server load leveling or some such stupidity while I am trying to do my work?
iPowerWeb's service has fallen into the crapper over the last year or so. When they were small they could handle the issues pretty quickly and with reasonable technical awareness. Nowadays they have a bunch of newbies trying to provide tech support for issues that simply never came up a couple or three years ago.

I have had several websites hosted by iPowerweb for well over 3 years. I have noticed that in the past few months, there service has become HORRIBLE!
For example, I paid to have an additional domain name hosted on my account several years ago and it was working very well for a long period of time. Recently, the site was down for over a week and showed the default vDeck page. I contacted tech support and they fixed it. Great! A week later it went down again. I contacted technical support again and they ARGUED with me that there was nothing wrong with my site and that this issue was already resolved. They also stated that I should have used the original ticket I opened a week prior. WTF?!?! I literally had to argue via email with them for an entire evening and NOTHING was accomplished. Finally, the site was fixed the next day by someone else.
Of course, now ALL of my sites have been down for well over 4 days with an error on the server that's hosting our sites. I contacted iPowerweb and did not receive a response in the 24 hour period the email states I should expect to receive one. I emailed them again and they finally responded with:
"Thank you for contacting IPOWER Technical Support.
The issue that you are reporting is a known issue on your server. Our System Admins are working on this issue trying to get it resolved ASAP. Please allow us a little time to resolve the issue."
A "little" time?!?!?!? That is BS! It has been well over 4 days. How much time do they need?
I am currently looking for a new (and much more reliable) webhost. Their customer service, technical support, and hosting service have become absolutely terrible!

Ipowerweb I cannot recommend. I have a Business Pro Webhosting with vDeck and problems with Addon-domains which do not work. One week ago I have informed of my problems by mail and till present have received no answer or help.
I have informed of my problem in the chat. Likewise no answer.
I think of the support from ipowerweb has not earned this name.
I have paid for a year and will cancel afterwards

I’ve been hosting with Ipowerweb for years now. I have only good service. I read all these articles that they are such a bad host and this is NOT true. I have over 300 domain names and shared hosting account with Ipowerweb also two awesome fast dedicated servers. They just upgraded their servers too.
I strongly recommend Ipowerweb for web design, web hosting, domain names, search engine optimization, eCommerce. They are good for everything they do. I will never change hosting companies and I will continue to use Ipowerweb and never change. I’ve had the pleasure working with Sales manager James Murphy and Search Engine Optimization specialist Steve Di Fabio on great service and massive website visits. Ipowerweb ranked my website in Google under the keywords I wanted and with in two weeks I was receiving phone calls. I have the pleasure of my own dedicated rep, Steve Di Fabio, that takes care of all my needs with no hold time at all and is extremely fast at what he does and gives the best customer service. Ipowerweb used to be a respectable, however I think they are too big to handle themselves now.
I have several websites hosted with them, one domain name had constant email problems and they would say they would fix it, it would be good for a day and then it would stop working. So I would call them and talk to the un-technically educated support and re explain everthing that has happened, only to get the answer- oh it must be an outlook setting... UGH!!! The support just doesn't listen.
I would say I am a high novice at web tech stuff and it gets so frustrating talking to some one that is worse than a beginner.
I launched a new ecommerce store the first week in November and a few days after launching it our website was set back to a month prior- which was a terrible development mess! I was TERRIFIED that this was live! I called them, waited an hour to talk to someone that said they were working on it. A FULL DAY LATER I asked if my website would be restored and they said THAT WAS THE LATEST VERSION OF MY WEBSITE THEY HAD ON FILE. THANK GOD I HAD MY OWN BACKUP!!!!! THEY CLAIM TO MAKE BACKUPS, BUT THEY DON'T AND IF YOU CALL THEM ON IT THEY SAY "SORRY, WE DON'T DO BACKUPS, THAT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY"??
(ps: this happened twice within a week, the second time I lost a week of product uploads.) IF YOU USE THEM BACK UP TO YOUR COMPUTER OFTEN!!)
Okay, so I thought this is the worst that can happen right, everyone has those moments, right? WRONG!!!
**** FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS OUR WEBSITE HAS GONE DOWN AT LEAST TWICE A WEEK!! *****
I am going to switch hosts because I have had it with our website going down. We are paying A LOT for clicks and advertising online and this is not worth it.
Everytime I call/live chat to see why the server is down, the support person says the same thing, oh we are really sorry, we really care about our customers and we are working diligently to restore service as soon as possible. You can only hear that so many times...
And one last thing, I have had trouble logging into only one of my vdeck's- it times out. The un-technical support insists it is my computer or isp provider- even though I tell them that I have other domains with vdecks that work great. Right now I still cannot login to one of my website vdecks because the support is so un-technically educated and they just don't listen. They just read from a script or something.
Oh yeah, and I have had recent problems with all my permissions being reset and having to go through my extensive site to figure out which permissions i need to RE-CHANGE...

I've been with them for two years. Resume:
- Tech support is horrible. No relevant answer on any question or issue I've had with them. Their software upgrade caused my web site to crash. "That is a problem in your scripts" - that's all they say. OK, I've moved out and now I do not have any problem with exactly the same scripts with another hosting.
- Financial service is not responsible. My accont cancellation process took over a month and as a result they've charged me for an extra year because they delayed any action until the expiration date passed and automatical renewal charge had been made.
Stay away of these guys.

An above average host, but not quite in the Top 10. Price is good. Control Panel is easy to use and tech support via email is timely. Overall uptime is good, but some features - like content and SSI - die more often. Adding other domains to your site can incur added costs and can be a nightmare.
