to this review here Affordable Host has been the best company I've run across. They are extremely helpful not only with problems but with any questions I've had, and the backbone of their hosting - CPanel - is a great tool to control and administer 1 website or a dozen. If you are looking for a host, I would recommend them highly - ditto for if you are planning to change soon. Almost anything you could ask for is here - giving even webmaster wannabe's like me the feeling of complete control over our sites.
In the 3 years I've used Affordable Host, I can only remember 1 significant session of downtime, and that was partially my own fault because I didn't update to a new server when they asked me to (the old server was getting cranky and they asked everyone to change packages to upgrade to the new ones - but I was lazy). Even then, once I made the call to them, they switched me quickly to a new and reliable server. I would say that I have only had a few hours of unscheduled downtime every year, and for scheduled downtime, they always give several days of notice.
