Webhost4life : Webhost4life Reviews : WebHost4Life -- Transition pooch-screw

Neither their automated or manual transition process works -- nor does trying to get support to fix it.

MS Sql DBs were not moved, mySQL DBs were changed from InnoDB to MyIsam -- but it made not difference the servers weren't accessible except through their control panel.

I have repeatedly asked to have the
account 'forced' to the new platform if necessary and I would 'fix' it from backups -- never happened after 3 requests

The level 1 support guy was supposed to get me a call from level 2+ -- never happened.

I've been in IT a lot of years, and have done a lot of large project management -- this has all the smell of sheer incompetence; either from the PM or the corporate level not giving the PM what time/resources needed -- doesn't really matter -- any site that's not plain vanilla breaks & the CUSTOMER has to pay in time, lost revenue, and aggravation.

I'm thinking I should just transition my account & my clients to another hosting company -- it probably would be faster -- and if this is an example of the "new team's" level of competence -- it might be safer.

I fully endorse your views. Our experience is very similar. We have been with them for more than 2 years but since last 4-5 months, the unannounced short duration downtimes are becoming a daily routine. We are advised to use manual migration due to dynamic nature of our website & "large" database size (

The automatic transition doesn't work on my account either. And why should I bother moving my stuff around on there infrastructure just because they have a change in management?
They should have properly planned it, so that they do the work, not every customer.
I have got a windows account. CMS like joomla are no longer on the list. I don't know yet whether I should stay with webhost4life or not. In the past I was happy with their ASP.net they had to offer. Also support was good, but now I'm not so sure anymore.
And I'm not that kind of person that does not handle change well. It just has a taste of trying to reduce costs on the customers back...

Lots of problems here too.

I tried to get do the manual transition using their tools, it just plain did not work.

4 weeks into the transition process and back and forth on the 'support' queue (which takes a MINIMUM of 24 hours to get back to you with a repsonse of 'I can't help you, elevating you to the next level of support) my sites are 'on' the new server, but still broken.

Now, am actively looking for a new host.

Any suggestions would be very welcome!

Same here...couple the horrible migration with the loss of all of my historical commissions AND now their email software has changed to a version that has no calendar, tasks or collaboration (apparently my calendar, tasks, etc... are now lost)...what a complete and total train wreck. I'll be looking for a new host as well.

They have screwed up my site big time. I'm an IT consultant and handle major development projects and installations for banks. I agree with the comments on here, the way this has been handled is with sheer incompetence.

My DotNetNuke showcase site has now been down for weeks and weeks. I've raised support calls and demanded refunds, but nothing has happened.

Worst of all my site has now been de-indexed from Google.

These guys really did a shitty job for migrating all the mails. We missed a bunch of emails during migration and on top of that the new version really is bad and ugly.

Very poor Proj Mgmt and implementation. I will move away all my accounts from this guyz.

I agree .. I have been a customer at WH4L since 1999 - I don't know if they got bought out or what but this transition is horrible. My domains (5) were down for 10 days. Support constantly LIED to me about getting it working. They are not honest any more. They just read their scripts.

"We are sorry for this inconvenience" Bull SH.T.. they are not sorry at all. And when I closed my 11 year old account.. they didn't care at all. They do not care about their customers .. they just LIE to their customers.

unbelievable... I hope they go bankrupt soon .. it would serve them right.

I have been a long user of WebHost4Life. Until now, their service has been good. They transitioned my websites just prior to June 19th. I have been attempting to get my websites back on the air ever since with no positive results. I have talked with at least four supervisors at three different service centers and last night to a second level supervisor. THEY JUST DON'T CARE! I believe they have big, big problems and are in way over their heads. I'm ready to go else where. I use asp.net 2.0/3.5 and MSSQL. Does anyone have a hosting recommendation?
