to this review here I have used GoDaddy for one year. I like a lot of what they do and believed that I could use short term sites for events that we do. However, one domain got protected (my fault) that I did not to renew. The protection means they automatically charge for the domain name and they automatically charge for another year of protection (which means they automatically renew the next year as well.) My credit card expired so I thought I would be ok since they couldn't charge it. However,they paid Visa to update their system and because I didn't have that service blocked on my card they were able to charge my new card. They told me Visa did it automatically but Visa informs me that people have to pay for the updating service. Then they required specific info to cancel the site. This is prudent since it was protected. However, they won't accept any of the documents they required and that I have submitted and to top it off they will only coorespond by email. You cannot resolve this with a live person. I had to cancel my credit card and had to dispute the charges to stop them from automatically taking money from me every year. The system is set up to make sure you will continue to get billed and by providing no human contact they guarentee it. Luckily this one credit card had all the bills coming to it so I will be able to cut them off since I stopped automatic update from Visa too. Sneaky and underhanded - sad that a good experience with them has to end this way. Comments 2 >>

I have never had a harder time setting up a high assurance SSL certificate than with godaddy. Their customer service is TERRIBLE they have not a clue what the F**K they are doing. They said they needed my phone bill to prove my LLC which I was willing to give yet apparently it was not the right type of bill (Vonage). Then this customer service RA@godaddy.com manager lady comes on the phone w/a power trip just being as difficult and hard to work with as possible. She would not take my company phone bill, told me that my information (which i've had set to my company name for 7 years) was not correct and I had to change it (in order to buy an ssl certifcate) to my personal name. bottom line, godaddy review ssl cert sucks and customer service is atrocious. I will NEVER buy through them again (currently do at least 2k per year) and will pay more $ for a better company VERISIGN. |
