to this review here 1&1 offer great services... at first.
Their business practices are tantamount to fraud, as they auto-renew services without your permission, attempting to charge debit/credit cards without your consultation. What other service would try to charge you automatically for something without asking you, 4 years after you first signed up with them? Does your insurance auto-renew, or do you receive notification of the renewal date? If I bought a cd from amazon would that give them the right to charge my card for things I hadn't asked for?
The answer is no. But the answer to the question, "Should I avoid 1&1 like the plague?" is definitely, yes.

Except that this year I have been getting threatening letters from a credit company for the amount plus (which more than doubles the debt). In the end after taking advise to get them off my back once and for all I PAID. End of story.........
Except that today, less than one week after paying I get an email invoice for one the domain names , auto-renewd to 2009. Which means the other will be following.
Surely there is a case here for people who have been scammed like this counter-suing them. This is daylight robbery - twice. Time for a test case - the publicity would do them the world of good.

5 years ago I got 2 co.uk domains with 1&1. In 2005 they auto-renewed both and charged me. I told them I didn't want these 2 domains and said I would not pay. End of story.......Except that this year I have been getting threatening letters from a credit company for the amount plus (which more than doubles the debt).
