A complete disaster from day 1. Just to name a few of the problems:
1. A failed domain transfer happened - the control panel features disappeared for the site. Customer support recommended deleting and re-adding domain - resulted in removal of ALL email accounts. Took almost a full day to restore manually.
2. After 3 months downtime started (December). We had stable traffic of 1400 unique visitors per day. The server went down for 2 full days. Have still not recovered from this fully after 2.5 months.
3. One full day of downtime in mid-Jan.
4. One full day of downtime in mid-Feb.
Then another full day of downtime end-Feb. Apparently they have moved our website to Germany and assigned a new IP. As a result of this all our web stats disappeared from the system.
5. Customer support cannot do anything. No support personell has actually done anything live at any time. They can only report to other people and check status.
All this downtime means (since we are a webbased business): Our company is down and non-functional and has frustrated employees 1-2 days per month. They have ruined our web ranks, traffic and caused considerable damage to our business.
We routinely get complaints from customers who cannot access their licenses and download software. The total business cost for us would be in the range of 2000-3000 dollars so far.
The only thing they have going for them is: if you email complaints@1and1.com they will give you 3 months free for each instance. We have 6-9 months of free service at this point. I don't even get bills anymore.
